The Internet is Down, and then When it Comes Back?

It's Christmas again!!! A SEAL Wolf Christmas coming in October!!! Love it! You will get to see tons of the old home team from the Oregon Coast and Leidolf's red wolf pack in Portland. Even zoo man Thompson gets involved, again. This is the first Christmas story I've written, and since I always write some suspense, humor, romance, and a lot of wolf, it will have all the usual. This, like To Tempt the Wolf, I couldn't quit writing when I began it. It's just one of those books that practically wrote itself--characters will do that sometimes. They get away from me. They actually start out in the jungle on a SEAL-type mission, where you get to see what happens when Bjornolf and Anna are working on the same team...sort of. And then it's a new mission--of a Christmas nature. Only she doesn't buy into the whole Christmas Fa-La-La-La-La-La, La-La-La-La. Not only that, but Bjornolf and she have been assigned the job of ensuring a runaway teen do...

The My Most Memorable Thanksgiving Ever! by Terry Spear

So it's time to decorate for Thanksgiving, and my pyracantha is also in beautiful form just for Thanksgiving. It will turn red for Christmas! Are you ready for My Most Memorable Thanksgiving Ever? It's not the kind where you say, "Oooh," and "Ahh," and "How very nice and sweet." It's where you say, "OMG!" "How awful!" "I'm glad I wasn't visiting you for Thanksgiving!!!" Yep, and there it is: My Most Memorable Thanksgiving Ever. Stories that have no conflict are BORING. Who wants to read about them? Thanksgivings are the same as every Thanksgiving. Feasting, playing, family and friends gathering.  Totally unmemorable from one to the next. So we had to liven ours up to make it extra special. Wildlife included. The turkey dinner I shared with my mother and daughter was great. We had a terrific feast while my son was visiting friends elsewhere...but after he heard of OUR Thanksgiving, he said...

Research for Fun! by Terry Spear

Since I write about jaguar and wolf shifters, I've been to a wolf reserve to learn more about the wolves, not in their natural habitat, but heard them howl, one of the wolves was mourning the loss of its mate, and they were pacing. This wolf had finally left its house to come to the fence. He lost his mate 3 weeks earlier and it was the first time they said he'd left his house.   The wolf below was a total beta.   This was one of the wolves that they walked when we were at the St Francis Wolf Sanctuary. And here she is scent-rolling, gathering all the nice smells before she was returned to her pen.   So seeing their behavior does help to get the story right. At the zoo, they had no wolves, but they did have jaguars. So I wanted to share some of the pictures that I took that help with my research. I caught the jaguar snoozing at first, but he was playing later. I'll share some of those pictures on the 19th. :) I really went to the zoo to make sure that no j...

Spooktacular Days and Highland Ways by Terry Spear

Fog on a nice Halloweenish day, albeit a bit early. This was a view of my neighbor's yard that normally you can see clearly. Perfectly spooky, right? All the ghosts and witches and wait, black and white kitties and a black and white panda bear? Oh well, they wanted to be part of the plan! My mother gave me the black and white kittens and panda. Except panda is distracted. Hey, look at the camera, this way!! I had a black and white cat, Trixie, who was full of the devil and my baby for years. So I have a collection of black and white cats! Just pretend they are all black. :) Yes, the question is: Where is the spider who made this huge web??? Isn't it just perfect for Halloween? As long as it's outside and I'm not about to walk through it, yes! Why does the yard look so blurred beyond? It's not the camera, or the photographer or Photoshop, but we had a spectacularly ghoulish mist blanketing the whole area. Perfect for a Halloween da...

Jaguars that Go Bump in the Night...by Terry Spear

It was a dark and stormy night in a hot and steamy jungle--you're lost, you're way out of your element, so who are you going to call??? Jaguar shifters!!! Play Ghost Buster music with a jungle, South American beat here. The blog tour started off with a bang last week and continues through the big paranormal day of all days--Halloween! Here's one of my Wilde & Woolly Wizard bears to start off the season. I make them from scratch, heads and all. He's a golden mohair with a black velvet cloak fully lined and the fabric is sprinkled with sparkly stars, the same as his hat! I love this time of year when the hot steamy jungle outside (well, amend that to hot cornfields, no steam) has been blasting us all summer long and now it's actually cool in the mornings and some evenings! And we had rain!!! Three days of it which made it feel like a cool wet jungle. I've had my fair share of critters, no monkeys, but I think just about everything else jungle like, mo...

Toggling between Jaguars and Wolves

What do you think? Wet and wild? Hungry and appealing? Dark and mysterious? Jaguar. Yeah, it's him, don't you think? Same look? In the fall I'm going to visit a big cat reserve in Texas with one of my coworkers. We'll wait until fall though when it's cooler and the cats are more active. I'll take lots of pictures and share for the upcoming release of Savage Hunger in October!! If you haven't seen the new covers Sourcebooks out-of-this-world cover artists are working on, here they are! Vote on covers and/or make comments to ensure Jaguar Fever has your input! Now you can help decide the front! Give us your vote for the cover you love and feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below. Your opinion counts at Discover a New Love! Back to the wolves though. Note to self, no mention of going to the dogs. These poor wolves look a little scrawny. Thanks so much to Stephanie Shaw for sharing this w...

The Telemarketer Call that Wasn't...by Terry Spear

First, I had THE CALL for two YA books. I was thrilled. And I was suddenly a provisional member of the Published Author Network (PAN) with RWA!!! And then two years after THE CALL, I got a letter that said that the YA line was being closed down, and none of the books were being released, that I could keep the partial advance they'd paid, and that my rights reverted back to me. Ghostly Liaisons was already, and still is, listed on Amazon under my maiden name, Terry Lee Wilde. But it was never released. And I was no longer a published author after two years of anticipating that first release, which was one month away from when it was to be released! Still, I wouldn't give up. If I could get one CALL, I could get another, right? So I kept at it, kept writing, revising and submitting, and getting rejections--many of which said I was close. And you know what that means! Close, but no cigar. Although I can't imagine anyone wanting a cigar. And then I got THE CALL that truly chang...
