Before the First Kiss by Tamara Hogan

I have to be honest and reveal that my first kiss kind of sucked. (In the bad way.) Not that the kisser wasn't a perfectly delightful boy... but that boy was a friend, not a boy friend, and as readers of our blog certainly realize, this is a critical distinction. So when he laid the kiss on me - wholly unexpected, all tongue, and no technique - I thought kissing was eww, gross. You'll be happy to know that I have since changed my mind.  Ahem. While Taste Me's hero, incubus security guru Lukas Sebastiani, may not have given siren rock star Scarlett Fontaine her first kiss, he was definitely her first lover--and as the tagline on the cover of the book says, "When your first lover's a sex demon, it's all downhill from there." After spending a single, rock-my-world night together, Lukas, guilt-stricken, walked away without saying a word, leaving Scarlett wondering what she'd done wrong.  Years later, she's never had a lover to match him, and she...

Paper Kisses

By Anita Clenney You know, until I read Mary Margret's blog, I couldn't remember my first kiss. I recall it now, just a quick peck, nothing spectacular. Now the kisses that stick in my head are the paper kisses. Ah...Donny Osmond. I fell in love with him at age nine and the love lasted for many years. Of course, I can't imagine what I was thinking now, but I adored him and gave his posters lots of kisses. I could almost feel his lips kissing me back, his arms pulling me close. Now my daughter is crazy about Justin Bieber, and he looks a lot like Donny did back then. Must be genetic. Awaken the Highland Warrior is the first book in my Highland warrior series. Here is Faelan and Bree's first kiss. Not quite what she expected. She started from the kitchen, when a crash sounded from her bedroom. Gripping the tray, she ran down the hall, coming to a halt in the doorway. He was naked, sprawled face down on the bed, bare as the day he was born. The lamp was overturned, his clo...

First Kiss Excerpt from THE FIRE LORD’S LOVER by Kathryne Kennedy

In honor of our month-long celebration of Valentine’s Day, I will be giving away an autographed copy of BENEATH THE THIRTEEN MOONS to one lucky commenter today (and look for another chance to win it in our grand prize drawing). So don’t forget to leave a comment and say hello! For today’s post, I thought I’d offer an excerpt from THE FIRE LORD’S LOVER, book one of THE ELVEN LORDS, cause book two, THE LADY OF THE STORM, will be coming to bookstores in August, and geez, I’m just very excited about it! Cass now stood facing her…new husband. She supposed she’d have to get used to that idea. Although she didn’t think she could ever get used to the coldness of his beautiful eyes. She’d hoped she could use the general to gather information about the elven, but right now he did not look like a man who could be used. Indeed, when his eyes met hers for a moment, a shiver of dread went through her. The few times she’d visited him, he had treated her with a disinterest bordering on contempt. She’d...

The Making of a First Kiss by Shana Galen

Let me begin by saying that my first kiss was nothing to write home about. It certainly wasn’t anything like the kiss I write between Armand and Felicity in The Making of a Gentleman . The interesting thing is that this kiss is Armand’s first. The comte has been imprisoned for twelve long years and has recently escaped France for the safety of his brother’s home in London. The duc , Armand’s brother, hires Felicity to tutor Armand, and the comte discovers she’s the only person who can touch him without causing him pain. He’s intrigued by her, and he’d like to do far more than kiss her. Here’s a scene from The Making of a Gentleman… “I’m not sure what you’re asking.” Her voice was low and trembling, but he did not think it was from fear. He narrowed his eyes and studied her face. No, she was definitely not afraid. Should he take that as a yes? He wrapped an arm about her body, pulling her hard against him. The sensation was so strong, he almost gasped. Her heat and her softness burned...

Is a Kiss a Kiss?

by Tracey Devlyn I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone’s first kiss excerpts this week, but it got me to thinking about what qualifies as a first kiss. Is it the melding of lips, a buss on the cheek, or a flick of a man’s tongue on the lady’s hand, neck, breast…? Well, you get the point. So, for my example, I’m going to use something a little more subtle, but no less effective. At least, I hope you’ll find it effective. Beware though. The scene below is unedited, so please forgive any newbie mistakes you might find. :) A Lady’s Revenge hits the shelves, e-readers, etc. October 2011! “Good morning, Dinks,” Guy said. The maid curtsied. “That it is, my lord.” Guy stepped into the bedchamber—and stopped dead in his tracks. “Oh!” Dinks exclaimed, crashing into his back. “I’m right sorry, my lord. Didn’t expect you to be standing in my path like that.” Guy ignored the maid’s rebuke. His nostrils flared as the fragrant, moist air of a recent bath reached his nose. But it was the sight of Cora ...

Rockin' First Kisses

by Olivia Cunning If you don't know this already, I write erotic romance. Very explicit, erotic romances about rock stars. My first kiss scenes tend to happen very early in the book. This one, between lead guitarist Brian Sinclair and human sexuality professor Myrna Evans, happens on page 21 of Backstage Pass . And by page 29, they.. well... Did I mention I write very explicit, rock star erotic romances with frequent, inventive sex scenes? Anyway... Brian and Myrna's First Kiss Brian turned Myrna to face him and pressed her up against the door with his body. She gasped in surprise just before his mouth claimed hers in a passionate kiss. She wrenched her head to the side, breathing hard. "What are you doing?" "Kissing you." "I never kiss on the first date." "This is our second date." She hesitated, her expression thoughtful. "Good point." Her fingers slid up his back and tangled in the longish hair at his nape....

Highlander’s Heart First Kiss

by Amanda Forester Ta da!! Here is my new cover for The Highlander’s Heart , which will be released in November. Since we are on the romantic topic of first kisses this month, I thought I’d share the first kiss from The Highlander’s Heart . Let me set the scene. The year is 1355 and tensions are high between England and Scotland. The English Lady Isabelle manages to escape her murderous husband but gets lost along the border and wanders into Scottish territory. Isabelle stomps through thick brush all day only to find highwaymen on the road, and worse yet, one of those barbarian Highlanders. Laird David Campbell is returning home to the Highlands when he discovers a bonnie lass being accosted on the road. He races to her defense only to find she is actually English, and a disgraced miss from the look of her. She demands to be taken back to England but since there is a price on his head Campbell refuses. With indomitable English spirit, Isabelle marches back into the forest to walk hom...

First Kiss, First Bite - THE TAMING OF THE WOLF

Most first kisses come after all sorts of build-up and sexual tension. The characters know each other and either can’t deny their desire for the other or are terrified by it, but give in anyway. Neither of those scenarios are true for Dashiel Thorpe, the Earl of Brimsworth, and Caitrin Macleod, our hero and heroine in THE TAMING OF THE WOLF… On bare feet, Cait padded along the hallway and down the main staircase. The last place she remembered having her book was in the duke’s study. She turned the corner into the study and stopped short. Standing behind the duke’s desk was a tall man, one she’d yet to meet. Most of him was hidden in shadow, but his face was lit by the moonlight that filtered through the drapes. He was a blond Adonis, tall and lean. A vague memory of him, maybe from one of her visions, created unease within her. A small gasp escaped her throat when he turned his amber gaze her way. “I’m sorry. I dinna ken anyone was up at this hour.” She turned to leave. “Don’t go,” he...

FIRST KISS

Ahhh, that FIRST KISS by Carolyn Brown February reminds us of LOVE and that reminds us of that first kiss! The bells, the whistles, the sizzle, the crackle in the air, the pure old heat that it generates. Whatever happens the first kiss is always remembered...and not just the first kiss in a lifetime but the first kiss in every relationship. And if you've already forgotten it, the relationship wasn't going anywhere anyway! The most memorable first kiss in any of my books has to be the first one Cathy and Travis exchange in Hell, Yeah! After all, they'd never seen each other or met... "Ten, hell yeah!" The women yelled with Gretchen Wilson as she sang "Redneck Woman" and asked the redneck girls to give her a big hell yeah as the New Year's countdown began. "Nine, hell yeah!" "Eight, hell yeah! Everyone held up their plastic flute of champagne. "Seven, hell yeah!" The men in the Honky Tonk yelled with the women. "Six, he...

In the beginning ...

In the beginning there were kisses, heat and excitement ... by Carolyn Brown How many of y'all watched "Friends?" Remember right at the end of season six, when Chandler finally got down on one knee in the midst of all those candles and proposed to Monica? Did you sigh and get a lump in your throat? I did. I'd rooted for them ever since the London fling, through the rest of the friends finding out about their affair one by one, when she appeared on his doorstep after their big fight with a turkey on her head and he admitted he loved her, and even when Phoebe and Rachel put Chandler to the test and he said in front of everyone that he was in love with Monica. Now fast forward to the next season when pretty close to the wedding date, someone asks Monica if she isn't going to miss all the excitement of the beginning of a relationship: first dates, first kisses, first time to make love. Is she sure she wants to marry Chandler and give up all that excitement? And just f...
