Exploring Disney, without Kids

When I attended the Romantic Times convention in Vegas earlier this year, people kept saying "it's like Disney World for adults!" And I would think, um, no... Disney World is Disney World for adults. And you can't change my mind on that. It's my favorite place and I go frequently. You might be thinking, why on earth would adults go to Disney World? To which I say, try it! Have all the fun without having to stop and wait in line to meet Mickey (unless, of course, that's what you want to do, no judging). I'm in the middle of a family trip to Disney World as this goes out, and I'm sure we're having a fabulous time. Yes, my kids are all grown up. We brought my daughter's boyfriend, too. What I love about Disney without kids? The attractions, yes, but also the resort hotels. They all have different themes and unique shops and restaurants. Arguably, some of the best Disney restaurants are at the resorts and not in the parks. But also, there...

Little Guilty Pleasures - Linda Broday

I think every person on the planet has one thing that brings them total enjoyment. But not all the time. Oh, no.  The best guilty pleasures are ones we let ourselves have as a reward for completing a job. Or struggling to finish something. Or after a long, trying day that took a lot out of us. Writers definitely have guilty pleasures! And we deserve them. Why? Creating worlds and story people takes a lot of brain power. We reach down into our souls and pull out the very best that's inside us. Here are a few of my guilty pleasures. ·        Chocolate - Rich, dark, decadent chocolate! ·        Wine - Mostly red and I love Moscata! ·        Movies - I love movies, sitting in a dark theater watching magic on the screen - Eating popcorn           (If you haven't seen The Longest Ride or Age of Adeline, you should.) ·   ...

That's So Romantic!

Happy Valentine's Day from the Casablanca Authors! Today we're chatting about what says romance to us. Shana Galen For me, it's thoughtfulness, like when my husband pours me a glass of wine because he can see I've had a hard day or empties the dishwasher without me asking. I appreciate a nice box of chocolates and flowers too! Grand gestures are fabulous (I want to read about some!), but romance is in the small things for me. Gina Conkle I'm with Shana, small gestures and kindness make my heart sing. I knew Brian (my husband) was  The One because being with him I felt understood. He paid attention to what made me happy. He listened and responded in ways that told me he got me...he knew what made me tick. I was bowled over when we were dating and he'd show up at my apartment to cook a nice dinner for me. The romance lives on. He'll notice changes in my mood and say, "You need some alone time, don't you?" That's code for: You wa...

You and Me and The Bottle Makes Three!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I’m Macy Beckett , the new kid on the blog, and I’m thrilled to join my Casa Sisters in discussing our favorite summer pastimes. As you probably guessed from the title, we’re going to talk about this: (Image source: Jenny's Southern Comfort) Oh, yeah, baby! Bring on the fruity firewater! Alcohol has many names—booze, hooch, alky, sauce, spirits, social lube—but no matter what you call it, a cool libation is one of my favorite summertime pleasures. Why have literal sex on the beach, (sand…ouch!), when you can experience it in liquid form? How about one of these Parrot Bay frozen daiquiri pouches? Just throw ‘em in the freezer for a couple hours and viola—a tropical vacay in your mouth! One of my friends calls these "Capri Sun for parents." (Image source: Monarch  Beverages) Another personal favorite is the TGI Friday's Orange Dream mix. Just pour it in the blender, add ice, and in minutes, you're sipping a grownup ver...

This One's For You

Whenever I post a blog, there's one reader I'm sure will be lurking out there. My brother David. My biggest fan. It was David who emailed me to tell me a review of SEALed With a Promise had made it into USA Today.* He keeps up with the book's sales positions as reported on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. And as a sales promotion for his company, hands out signed copies of my books. When I think of the two of us as kids, one photograph pops into my mind. I think I'm about eight and he's ten. I'm on the left , sitting up straight, my plaid cotton dress smoothed over my knees. My hair is a frizzy dark cloud held back by barrettes. I don't really remember the day except for how elegant I thought the black velvet bow at the white collar of the dress was. When I look at the photograph now, I'm always surprised to see the bow is little more than a limp string--and lopsided, to boot. Never mind. That day I thought I was one fancy dressed little girl and I'm...
