I took the picture of the kitten and then created the composite. If I could have, I would have adopted the kitten. He was at a cat show. Unfortunately, my son-in-law gets deathly ill around cats, so no cats here. I adopted my cat that I had for 19 years from the the Kitty Welfare Society in New Jersey. She was the cutest thing ever. Centaurs in love. When I need a break, I create pictures, take pictures, play with my dogs, play with my granddaughter, garden, weed, weed, weed....but mostly write. I will never lose my love of fantasy though. It takes me out of the drudgery of life: didn't I just clean that toilet? What's the ring doing there again? Weeds? I pulled them all. It's fall, still hot, hot, hot here in the Houston area. So after all the flooding from Hurricane Harvey, I'm ready for cooler weather. The health department and DOD are spraying for the mosquitoes, which is another reason we need COOL weather! Our roads were flooded and we couldn't get mail delivery, UPS delivery, couldn't navigate the roads out of the development for days. Electricity kept flickering on and off, and I had to give up on writing for a while because it kept shutting down my computer. But my daughter's home ( a half mile from me) and mine were fine. She had water on her patio and I gave her bags of bark mulch to help keep it from going higher. Food shortages galore. Need D batteries for camp lanterns, flashlights, out at all the stores? This was at a time when we realized the tropical storm had turned into a hurricane. No flashlights, camp lanterns, camp stoves.  Bottled water was gone and trucks couldn't get in to deliver it. This is last night before Hurricane Harvey, at category 4, made landfall. We've had 3" of rain so far and it's continuing to pour rain, with wind gusts up to 25 mph. It will rain for several more days, which will cause flooding for us. We're hoping we don't lose electricity. We're under flood warning and several other warnings right now, including tornado watch. Hope everyone left the area who needed to due to mandatory evacuations. Tiger Mix Ganzania flowers. The orange and yellow one is yet another version that popped out yesterday. They fold up and pop out a new flower, but most are different, all on the same two plants. It was one of two rescued plants that were dying at a hardware store, and they’re my favorite because of all the unique flowers. And I was excited to learn that an unnamed plant I rescued at the same hardware store last spring is a gorgeous daylily, unique color from my others. It was like Christmas when it flowered! In writing, each of my stories has to be unique also. I’m finishing up book 25 in the wolf series. They’re all stand alone, so no need to read them in order. I turned in Flight of the White Wolf–and now am finishing up, and finishing up, and finishing up The Bounty Hunter Gets Her Wolf. I have had a bounty hunter heroine before, but she was trying to take down a Mobster, the same one that turned her and murdered her mother in Dreaming of the Wolf. And...

I used to plant tons of trees, when I had a lot of acreage–I love forests. But I was so disappointed to learn the people who bought my home in Oklahoma clearcut most of the trees. Beautiful pines, helped to stop erosion on the hillside, and they provided homes for birds, beauty, solitude. There’s no prettier sound than wind blowing through a forest and hearing the rustle of branches or pine needles. We have old forest in and around our neighborhood. Most new home developments, they just clearcut the trees, leaving barren land. But here, I have several old pines. And behind me, one of my neighbors has beautiful oaks. He wants to cut them down. Why? Because they drop leaves and twigs and he has to pick them up. Really? He has to cut the grass too!  Maybe he should dig it up? In Texas heat, shade trees are at a premium. They’re beautiful. You see them towering a hundred feet above the homes. Why would you want to cut them down??? I had to have one of the pine trees ...

My grandbaby was due today, but she came at 1:58 yesterday morning, so not an April Fool’s Day baby after all. And their corgis are happy to have an added member of the pack! They’re curious, just like wolves that are excited about the new pups added to the pack. What with deadlines, turned in Flight, and working on proofing SEAL Wolf Undercover, new release on Tuesday with Between a Wolf and a Hard Place, and trying to keep up with the word count on The Bounty Hunter Gets Her Wolf, and helping out the kids and baby—and being up all night with them yesterday–it’s a juggle! Right. I’m trying to do my taxes, make bears, and write a book. Which means, the taxes are a necessary evil, and if I were in charge, I wouldn’t be doing them. Making bears, yes, they’re fun. Writing the book, it’s on deadline, so again, I’m not in charge. The deadline is. Not to mention my characters are presenting scenes to me while I’m trying to do other things…like sleep…and so guess who else is in charge???     Then the puppies. Aww, my adorable puppies. I’m supposed to be the alpha, but until I feed them this morning, they will keep hounding me, which means I finally gave in, so, you can see who is in charge. I am over halfway done on Flight of the White Wolf, yay! And I sewed up a lilac bear for a Mother’s Day bear, which is just the beginning, and finished a golden mohair last night.
