New Release: The Good, the Bad, and the Vampire by Sara Humphreys

It's release week for Sara Humphreys' The Good, the Bad, and the Vampire - the latest in the Dead in the City series. Check out a sneak peek of the book below! An Excerpt: Hidden within the lush branches of the towering tree, Trixie crouched low to avoid hitting her head on a dangling clump of pinecones. This had been her usual spot ever since Chelsea moved in a year ago, but those freaking pinecones always got tangled in her hair. Uncomfortable as it was, this location gave her a clear view into the kitchen and family room of the tiny house. The thick scent of the pine needles filled Trixie’s nose as she sat motionless amid the branches, unnoticed by the human woman inside the little white clapboard cottage. Trixie’s throat tightened with emotion. With her enhanced hearing, she picked up Chelsea’s tuneless hum as she washed dishes in the small sink. She seemed content and peaceful. A combination of pride and sadness swirled inside Trixie—but not regret. That was on...

Vampires, Cocktails, and a Contest! by Sara Humphreys

Hooray! VAMPIRE TROUBLE is here! Whoo hoo!  This is the second book in the Dead in the City series and I can't wait for readers to dig into Shane and Maya's story. These two are opposites in just about every way.  She was turned five years ago and he's been a vamp for four centuries.  He's a badass vampire sentry and essentially a registered lethal weapon with a cold calculating demeanor. Maya is a bartendaer at The Coven, a vampire run nightclub in NYC, and an incorrigible flirt with a penchant for troublemaking. She is, quite literally, a man-eater. But there is more to these two than meets the eye and watching them reveal one another creates quite a ride--at least I hope it does! *** Blurb... A fledgling vampire ignites a war... Maya remembers the last moments of her life as a human with haunting clarity, and every man she meets pays the price...until Shane. Finding herself in the middle of a bloody fight between vampires and werewolves, Maya has no...

Stress Relief by Sara Humphreys

I am on deadline. Again. I'm not complaining. I love what I do and as a writer I feel blessed to be contracted for several more books which means I will be living on deadline for the next three years. At least. That being said, my latest deadline is looming large and I have been stressed to the gills--as I always am the two weeks prior to turning a book in. Most writers will tell you that they have a process and for most of us that process includes stressing out--usually more than once. In order to save my sanity, I have a few go-to tools for stress relief. I'll admit right off the bat that some are smarter than others. 1. Get up from my computer, step away from the manuscript and go for a walk --This is the best option but I don't always do it because I feel guilty for leaving the project. However, when I do force myself to take that break, it helps every single time. It's good for the mind and the body. 2. Call a friend --Chatting with one of my writer fri...

Twitter Party for NYC Vamps by Sara Humphreys

I love a good party. I adore gathering people together for great conversation, a few laughs and lots of fun. The only thing I don't love about throwing a party is the mess. Ugh. You know how it is...you spend two days cleaning the house for the party and then you spend two days afterward cleaning it up. Unless it's an online party...then there's no mess...only fun! When I was mulling over different ways to celebrate the release of Tall, Dark, and Vampire ,  I came to the conclusion that I wanted to try something new. I've done the FB parties and the blog tours--which I'm embarking on again for TDV--but I really wanted to go outside my comfort zone. One thing came to mind. Twitter. I’ve been a sporadic tweeter at best but I’m on a mission to improve my tweeting talents. I’ve seen several authors host these twitter parties and thought it was about time that I give it a shot. Apparently these twitter parties can generate thousands of tweets in just ...

Spinning into a New World by Sara Humphreys

When writing a series, I think one of the most challenging things is to keep it fresh. There are several series I've read that I thoroughly enjoyed, but after awhile the books can seem repetitive. So what's an author to do? I want to stay engaged with my readers and give them something fresh. However, there's still the desire to give them a hint of familiarity.  Then it hit me...a spin off series! Why not introduce new characters and a new layer to the Amoveo world and then give these characters their own series? So that's exactly what I've done. In UNDONE , the fourth Amoveo Legend novel, readers get to meet my vampires in NYC. Olivia Hollingsworth is a three century old vampire who owns a nightclub called The Coven. She runs the joint out of an old church in Greenwich Village and is also the head of an all female vampire coven.  Readers will get a peek at Olivia and her sexy little coven in UNDONE but then my vamps will be getting their own series---Dea...

How About Some Videos & A Giveaway? by Sara Humphreys

I am on serious deadline and my four boys are home this week on February break. Awesome. To make it even more interesting, my oldest boy is leaving for England on Wednesday as part of a 10 day student exchange program for select seniors. I'm excited for him but moderately terrified as well. He's been diabetic since he was 2 1/2 and this is the first time he's really going away. Needless to say, this week I'm on major overload so instead of a loooonnnnggg wordy post, how about some videos and a giveaway? I'm giving away this 2013 wall poster.  To be entered to win all you have to do is leave a comment and tell me which video you liked the best. Post by Sunday, February 25th at 11:59pm to qualify. I made all of the video trailers for my books and had a blast doing it. Enjoy! Amoveo Legend Series Tall, Dark, & Vampire  (Book 1 Dead in the City) Dream on....

Hot New Covers & a Giveaway! By Sara Humphreys

There are a number of exciting moments when a book is published. The first, of course, is actually finishing the manuscript but then there are several other hot  moments. The hottest moment is when the box of final copies arrive in the mail from my publisher. I can actually hold it in my hand and see my name on the cover. That is smokin' hot! However, another hot experience is seeing the cover for the first time. When I see that email from my editor  and know that my new cover is in the attachment...I tend to hold my breath until it's finally revealed. The Sourcebooks art department never disappoints! Surprise me? Yes. Disappoint me? Never. This week I received not one, but two covers in my email and I thought I'd share them with you. Keep in mind that both of these are arc (advanced reading copy) covers and may change a bit. The first one that I opened was the cover for UNDONE, the fourth installment in the Amoveo Legend series.  This is a cross-over book bet...
