Sourcebooks Casablanca Romance Authors

So a couple of weeks ago was the annual Romantic Times Book Lovers Convention (or RT for short!).  This year it was held in Atlanta and I have to say, I'm really glad I went! This was my third RT - first one was in Dallas back in 2015, then last year in Las Vegas and now this.  And I have to admit, this one was kind of my favorite.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVED going to Vegas last year, but my hubby was with me and we did more stuff on our own than at the convention so I almost don't even feel I was really at RT.  But this year?  Oh my goodness, what a time! Let me start by saying that I go to these events in two modes - a reader and a writer.  I totally fangirl when I get to meet some of my favorite authors!  And this year was no different.  I got to meet actress Meg Tilly who now writes romance as Sara Flynn!  I gasped, I shook hands with her and then yammered on about being a fan of the movie "The Big Chill" and then made sure that I sa...

A few weeks ago, I got to cross something off of my author bucket list. I went on a writing retreat. Now don't get me wrong, I've gone on those before but normally I was alone and it was only for a weekend.  This time I had the opportunity to go with five other amazing writers for an entire week!  I flew from North Carolina to California and other than a three-hour delay at my layover in Chicago, that part of the trip was positively delightful.  When I landed in San Diego, three of the five girls were there and roaming the airport!  I met up with one of them (by accident) in the ladies room!  Lol!  We had a car pick us up and take us to Oceanside where we had three condos right on the beach.  The pier was literally right across the street and when you stood out on the balcony, it was all just right there.  I LOVE the sound of the ocean.  When I'm home, I have a sounds of the ocean CD that I listen to when I'm writing and need to block out...

Och, aye! There's naught like the sound of bagpipes in the morn! I love when the new year rolls around because that means I get to attend my favorite Scottish festivals all over again. And this year is no exception. March heralded unseasonably warm temperatures in Chicago. For two weeks, pale Midwesterners could be found walking around in short sleeves, flip flops, and ponytails. The warm temperatures made everything pop a month early. Then came April. Back to sweaters, jackets, and close-toed shoes. Sigh. But all was not lost. Another more precious flower blossomed, one that took six years to form the perfect petals and build the loveliest of fragrances. I call it Ode to A Lady's Revenge . Isn't she beautiful? Ordinarily, I’d talk about the fun I’ve had guest blogging this month and talking about my recent release, Hex in High Heels. Hm, I guess I just did that! But today is also the day of my husband’s surgery. A day of waiting to hear if he’ll be okay. Inside, I feel he will do fine and I'll catch up on my reading while waiting. I licked my lips in anticipation waiting to take possession. It was mine, all mine. My only regret was that it didn't come with batteries. Romeo, Romeo was up against two wonderful books, Stolen Fury by Elizabeth Naughton and The Forbidden Daughter by Shobhan Bantwal. Winning awards is great and I've truly been blessed, but when it comes right down to it, every time I get fan mail, I feel the same thrill. Writing is such a solitary occupation, and when someone recognizes my work, I get such a rush.
