Stress... Good or bad?

Hi, everyone,
I'm thinking about stress today. Not just the usual day to day stuff...although that can be a pain in the butt too... No, I'm thinking more about the extra stuff we heap on ourselves.

Is there good stress? I think so. The stress of a new release, for instance! Yes, there are blog tours and giveaways, and fortunately Sourcebooks has a wonderful publicist that takes care of a lot of that. (Thank you, Beth!) This brings up one of my latest discoveries for alleviating stress... Delegating!
I'm the woman behind the Fall in Love with New England Romance Reader/Author conference. Yup. I invented it.
www.fallinlovewithnewengland.com That was back when I was between contracts and had all kinds of time to arrange everything. Enter a new 5 book contract a few months before the conference! Eek! Talk about stress! But you know what? That's all good stress too.

Fortunately, I have friends. Lots of author friends who wanted this to succeed stepped up and volunteered to help--I didn't even have to ask! Bless you, Dalton Diaz, Ana E. Ross, Nora LeDuc, Marianne Rice, Robin Stone, and Christina Tetrault!

Last year at about this time, I was a mess. So many details! So little time. This year, I feel fairly serene, because--you guessed it--I'm delegating!

My husband is going through something similar... He has always wanted to be a helicopter pilot. He saved up for lessons and probably expected to be all trained and ready to solo in a few weeks. Nope.
Weather cancellations and a much harder learning curve than expected have dragged it out several months.

As you might expect, we're commiserating and complaining, but we wouldn't think of giving up!
Is there something in your life that is causing good stress? Some labor of love? Please share so we can all commiserate together!

  2. Stress gets me motivated lol. I got a job because we needed the money but now I'm glad because it gets me out of the house. My mom got moved to assisted living so when not working I visit her which I should have done more often. We're also selling her house so if I want to keep any mementos or heirlooms (well to me anyway lol) I need to start getting rid of my own clutter. Very stressful but satisfying!
