Writing the Next Great American Romance--During a Storm

Yep, squished on my lap, looking over my keyboard, my puppies watch me take pictures, but really, as you can see here, I was typing away on my next story. Tanner, the black and tan Havanese, had to peer over my laptop, and I had to take a picture. Max, the white Havanese, has to get as close to me as he can. Getting ready for St. Patrick's Day--may the luck of the Irish be with you! Making bears, need to make another.  And playing around with Photoshop's oil paint versions of the puppies. And gardening! Well, this is a weed. But isn't it pretty? And this is a Sweet Sixteen Gerbera Daisy. Isn't it pretty? And garlic chives, so yummy on baked or boiled potatoes! They've been growing all year, even through the hard freeze we had, and now are all a bloom. Oil paint version of garlic chives. For the first time, I've planted zinnia, salvia, coneflower, and some other seeds. I usually end up pulling them up as weeds, I think, ...

Hobby Time--Teddy Bears and Picture Taking!

Capturing steam off a picture or...a ghost? Latest bear order! Butterfly and shadows Butterfly sunning itself I took this out the kitchen window because when I go outside, the butterflies flutter around like crazy. These seem to be the most common I’ve seen out there. They love the fermenting pears. What is Mom up to now? Peek-a-Boo Though I shot the pictures of the puppies at different times, they make the perfect pairing. I have to take some of these shots with the phone because if I move around too much, I lose the shot. They were so good that they waited for me to take the shots. Often, they will jump down and come to greet me. Sunset Somewhere in the fog, there is a house.   Have a great Friday the 13th! Welcome to the launch of The Cowboy's Christmas Baby!

Welcome to the launch party for The Cowboy's Christmas Baby! Christmas might really be two months away but think cold snow, the smell of sugar cookies baking in the oven, warm sweaters, crackling fireplaces, shiny ornaments on the tree, Christmas songs on the radio and holiday specials on television. Think Christmas parties and a big spread of all your favorite holiday foods...pecan tarts, that special punch with just a little bit of kick, pumpkin dip and southwest pinwheels. Natalie and Lucas welcome all y’all to Cedar Hill Ranch in Savoy, Texas. Population less than a thousand with friendly folks, ranches, sexy cowboys, sassy ladies, and a snowstorm promising the first white Christmas in nearly twenty years. Christmas is that time when love is in the air, as much or maybe even more than Valentine’s Day. It’s hustling about, cooking, and keeping secrets so that there can be surprises on Christmas day. It was the perfect time for Lucas to meet Natalie in perso...

Cute Adorable Puppy!! (and a book)

by Amanda Forester Promotion.   For some writers it is second nature, for others the mere mention of it induces hives and a nervous tick.   Despite being in the latter category, I have attempted my best to promote, especially as I have my first book of a new Regency series being released next month (less than a month - gasp - twitch).   In my efforts to promote A Wedding in Springtime (which Publisher's Weekly gave a Starred Review, just in case you were wondering) I have been posting to facebook with more regularity.   I posted when my book received a good review (another Starred Review from Booklist - just saying).   I posted when I scheduled my book launch.   I even posted when I needed help choosing a pet for my next hero.   But my all-time most popular post was.... my puppy eating my story board. Yes, here she is in all her ravenous glory, my four-month-old puppy chewing up my post-it note story board.   Apparently, the most p...

Abundant Puppy Love

Hi! Catherine Mann here, welcoming you to my first blog with the Casablanca authors! My debut book with Casablanca - a military romantic suspense entitled COVER ME - will be out next July, but I look forward to visiting with you in the meantime while I count down the days. Now, on to this month's theme of abundance... When I think of the word abundant, I envision the exuberant love shared without hesitation by precious puppies. I believe we could learn so much from our canine pals about opening our hearts. Those who know me likely aren’t surprised by my take on this month’s blog theme. I’m a big advocate for adopting shelter/rescue pets, and I foster for my local Humane Society. When I foster shelter dogs, often they come to me ill or afraid or neglected. It’s my role to offer them a temporary safe haven to heal, physically and emotionally. And yet in spite of all they’ve been through, love shines so purely from their eyes as they revel in a simple belly rub or a pat on the ...
