E-Book Pricing, your wallet's perspective.

Today's post is about E-book pricing in general. How much is too much? How much is too little? One thing I can definitely say is that the Kindle version of A DANCE WITH DRAGONS at $14.99 is TOO MUCH. So's the $35.00 for the hardcover. I enjoyed that book, so thank God for libraries or I never would have had the chance to read it. I do plan on owning it, but until the price goes down, or it comes out in paperback, my wallet's staying in my pocket. That's all well and good for George R.R. Martin. His addicting series and huge following will keep him from being hurt from my reluctance to purchase his book at such a large price. But what about the debut and mid-list authors? What prices am I willing to pay to try someone new? Or keep following a series I liked? On the other hand, authors and publishers need to ...

My Christmas (book) Wish List

I’m getting a new sony ereader for Christmas. It’s sitting in the box in the cupboard waiting for me to fill it with books. In November I decided I was going to empty my old ereader (an ancient sony) as I’m not transferring my old eTBR pile to my new reader. Plus I have to clean it as my eldest child desperately wants the old one (eldest isn’t old enough to read romance and I think eldest also believes books magically appear on the ereader—I wish!). I’ve made good progress on my eTBR pile, but I have also been making the wish list for my new ereader. Actually I’ve been making 2 lists, one for me and one for the eldest. Mine looks a like this: Defender: Intrepid 1 by Chris Allen Double Down by Katie Porter  Double Time by Olivia Cunning Flesh by Kylie Scott Masquerade by Nicole Flockton  A Clockwork Christmas by JK Coi, PG Forte, Stacy Gail and Jenny Schwartz Of course as I’ve been concentrating on my eTBR pile my print TBR pile has er…multiplied like gremlins in a...

All I Want by Shana Galen

I’ve been reading the other blogs this month and am really inspired and impressed by what my fellow authors would like to see under the tree (with a bow). This is the first year since my daughter was born that I have a tree without a gate around it. That means something can actually get under the tree without me having to perform acrobatics in order to get it there. That also means Baby Galen can get to whatever is under the tree, so nothing fragile or toxic or sharp for me. The main thing on my Christmas list, and I bet it’s on a lot of yours too is an ereader. That’s right. I’ve crossed over to the other side. I’ve been reading books on my phone for the last six months or so, and I want something with a bigger screen. I actually never intended to get an ereader. I like physical books too much. But I thought I would just download one or two, you know to read when I was waiting in line or something, and it turns out, I really like the mobility and freedom having an ereader gives me. I ...
