It’s All About the Brackets

March. Madness. Mr. R has had it for MONTHS, as he followed the path of his beloved NCAA basketball teams to the end of the season. As of this writing, he is watching a play-in game for two teams he has never expressed any interest in, just because one of them MIGHT play a team he is rooting for AT SOME POINT. But hey, he can have his fun, because there's a whole other tournament going on for romance novels. It's called the DABWAHA , and it will seriously add to your TBR piles. My novella The Sport of Baronets  is a nominee in the novella category, which is incredibly cool. Voting starts tomorrow, and if you enjoyed Hannah and Bart’s story, I hope you’ll give it a click! Haven’t read it yet? Sourcebooks has made the novella free this week, so snap it up from your favorite ebook retailer. kindle  •  nook  •  kobo  •  ibooks  •  google Theresa Romain is the bestselling author of historical romances, including the Matchmaker trilo...

Free Historical Romance Novella!

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope 2016 is off to a good start for you. I'm looking forward to a year of lots of reading and lots of writing. If you're planning a bookish year too, Sourcebooks has a present for you. For the month of January, my Romance of the Turf prequel novella,  The Sport of Baronets ,  will be FREE.  What's it about? A feud between two influential families. Horse theft. Secrets. Gambling. Racing. And above all, romance--an enemies-to-lovers plot that brings everything else together.  I call this a prequel, but it's a stand-alone story with its own HEA. The Romance of the Turf trilogy tells the stories of the Chandler siblings, a talented but troubled quartet at the heart of the Regency horse-racing world. The Sport of Baronets  is the story of youngest sister Hannah and the neighboring baronet, Sir Bartlett Crosby, with whom her family has long been feuding. As you might expect, that all starts to change... I hope you'll give...

Serial Romance: The Sport of Baronets

Two weeks from today, my Romance of the Turf series begins with a prequel novella, The Sport of Baronets . It's been a few years since I've launched an all-new series, and I'm excited! I hope readers love visiting the Regency world of horse-racing and meeting the talented but troubled Chandler family at its heart. First to get an HEA? Hannah, youngest of the four Chandler siblings. But when the story begins, romance is the furthest thing from her mind. She's prepared to battle with the hated Crosby family over the ownership of a champion colt. Nothing goes quite as she expects, though, and Hannah soon finds herself swept into a mystery and an enemies-to-lovers romance. To see some images that inspired the story, check out my Pinterest board here . The Sport of Baronets  will be published on November 3--but there are a few ways you can read it earlier! It'll be up on NetGalley next Monday, October 26. And yesterday, Sourcebooks Casablanca started sending out s...

Sneak Peek at The Sport of Baronets

In less than seven weeks, my new historical romance series begins! These Regency horse-racing stories--the Romance of the Turf trilogy--kick off on November 3 with a digital prequel novella, The Sport of Baronets .  Behold the beautiful cover art: The novella went through copyedits and page proofs not long ago, and I haven't put up an excerpt anywhere yet. Today I thought I'd give you all the first look at The Sport of Baronets ! In this novella, the feuding Crosby and Chandler families--represented by Bart Crosby and Hannah Chandler--fall into a mystery about a missing racehorse. This scene follows their difficult first meeting and their peace-making bit of detective work together. Here, Hannah and Bart have met in the study of the Crosby family home to look through family archives, and...well. You'll see. +++++ “I assume you know of our parents’ financial…issues.” When she nodded, Bart added, “Even if gambling had not all but ruined my family, I would not want to...
