I admit it, I have a weakness. And my weakness is romantic comedies. There have been so many Saturday afternoons I’ve lost by walking through the living room when one of my favorites is playing on TV. Laundry and errands? What laundry and errands? I have to spend the next few hours curled up on the sofa, watching Dirty Dancing for the 473rd time. It’s this same magnetic pull toward a love story that inspired me to read romance novels, and to write them. So I thought I would share with you my favorite romantic comedy, and the romance novel it reminds me of. Being silly is technically defined as: "a ludicrous folly” or sometimes just “stupidity.” Think of funny voices and slipping on a banana peel. Freud considered it part of our fun-loving id. One psychologist has recently suggested that it helps us deal with depression. One of my favorite examples of a pure silly moment is the slapping fish dance. There are advantages of silliness. For example, think of Patch Adams and the clowns that lift the spirits of sick people at local hospitals. Or the subway riders who mark a day to ride without their pants making a lot of people smile. What is wrong with a smile? As someone who really enjoys comedic writing, my favorite 19 th century authors include Jerome K. Jerome, and P.G. Wodehouse. I adore the city of Savannah. Every time I go there, I fall in love with it just a little more. The people are friendly, the whole downtown is relaxed and welcoming, and when I'm there, you can find me with a libation in hand, strolling the beautiful shady streets and taking in the historical loveliness. My favorite place in Savannah so far is the beautiful  Owens-Thomas House . One of the most well-preserved Regency homes in the US, this house boasts a beautiful garden as well as a lovely interior. I highly recommend a visit if you ever find yourself in the deep South. When you visit this amazing city, you'll see why Sherman decided not to burn it.
