Rainbow Sparkle Unicorn and Other Inspiration for 2017 - by Adriana Anders

I know we’re tired of all the New Year’s resolutions, so I won’t bore you with mine, which is to be more positive (oops. Okay, I lied. There it is.) What I’d like to share with you, however, is my list of Heart Words for 2017 (a term coined by my six-year-old son). They’re for inspiration, mostly, like when I get lost writing a book, I go back to those bare bones ideas I’d come up with in the beginning. These words are my 2017 road map—my sign posts to happiness:   Family : Part of being positive is recognizing all the good stuff and I’m one of those very lucky people whose life is chock full of family. I have a ridiculously supportive husband, I have two children who are healthy and happy and who light up my life. I have parents and brothers and lots of family close by and some far away and they are all amazing and wonderful. Friends : You know that feeling you get when you meet a new person with whom you just click? Well, last year was full of moments like that. Add to it t...

Resolutions vs goals

Christmas is over and we’re three days into the New Year. How many resolutions have already been broken? I tend not to make resolutions. I like goals. I like to be able to check things off my to do list.  Some goals aren’t as easy as others to put on paper and achieve. Some are more abstract like be a better person. But there are ways of making that tangible. What could you do to quantify that? Donate to the animal shelter, volunteer your time? The promise to get the credit card cleared is another common promise…but again a plan of attack is needed to make it happen. Exercise is another resolution that often gets ditched early because people make huge promises and are discouraged early. So start simple with small goals. I didn’t wake up one day and decide to run 5km, I built up to it. Fitness goals are much healthier to achieve than the elusive ‘beach body’ (What is that any way? Seriously if you have a body it is beach ready). A fitness goal is easily quantifiable, te...

And a Happy New Year!

We want to be the first to wish you a Happy New Year, Dear Readers! Thank you for making us part of your lives. Today we'd like to share some of our favorites from 2014, what we're anticipating in 2015, and maybe even a note or two about resolutions. Because I got two new puppies for Christmas, my New Year's goal is to housebreak them, teach them all kinds of neat tricks--they're really fast learners, and have fun. :)  Max learning lie down--6 months old Havanese. Tanner tuckered out--3 month old Havanese. Jane Ashford I was lucky enough to spend a couple of months in London in 2014. Lots of great memories there. I feel very much at home in England. Maybe that's why I write Regency historicals. Or maybe it's the other way around. : ) I hope to go back for a bit next year. Do you all have any travels planned? Gina Conkle 2014 meant a major, cross-country move for my family and the debut of my first print book, Meet the Earl at Midnight. What a...

Happy New Year

Thank you, readers, for all your support in 2013! We can't wait to show you all the fabulous books we have coming out in 2014!

We Need a Resolution

I admit: I’m a list-maker. No matter whether my plan for the day reaches to five things or fifty, I feel like I’ve made progress just by writing everything down. Image: Money Saving Mom As you might expect, this organizational tendency extends to my writing career. Before my first historical romance was published in 2011, I made a four-month bucket list of goals and reported back on them every month . Four career goals (ranging from corralling my TBR pile to a regular word count) and four personal goals (for example, keep plants alive). Since then, my TBR pile has grown and I’ve killed a cactus. Er. Nobody’s perfect. At the end of the year, lots of people start thinking of resolutions or goals for the coming year. As various family members gathered for the holidays, I polled them on what they wanted most for 2014. Mr. R’s goal for the new year: “to weigh no more at the end of it than I do at the beginning of it.” Brother R’...

Shiny and New – What could be coming in 2013 (and a giveaway!)

by Danielle Jackson Happy New Year! I know it’s been over a week, but doesn’t everything still feel shiny and new? I think so. Around this time a lot of people look back and reflect on the year past, but I like to look forward to the year ahead... Here are some things I think will be making a big impact in romance/publishing and book PR and marketing: Evolution of the Author/Reader Relationship: we saw quite a bit of this last year, but I think 2013 will continue to see changes between authors and readers. Many of you have heard it from me, but social media is now a must when thinking about promoting your books. Authors and Readers can connect instantly—be it through a fabulous email, a Twitter discussion about a book, or a snarky review. You should all know my social media mantra: THE INTERNET LASTS FOREVER! So think very carefully about your interactions and how you want to be perceived among readers. Romance in the Mainstream: The book I’m about to mention has ...
