Book Launch: The Soul of a SEAL by New York Times Bestselling Author Anne Elizabeth

New York Times bestselling author Anne Elizabeth shoots for the stars in her fourth West Coast Navy SEALs romance -------------------------------------------------------  I love romance! Little sweet notes stuck into socks, darling dark chocolates left on the bedside table, gifts given ‘just because’ or the best of all, a big welcoming smile when he sees me. Sometimes, I think my husband will pick a fight with me just so we can make-up, ahem, really make-up; and I have to admit that I love him dearly for it. So, is it any wonder that I enjoy writing stories, which incorporate romance and do it all SEAL-style? The SOUL of a SEAL was a very special book to write as it allowed me to be drop-dead romantic at times as well as pursue something both my husband and I adore—SPACE. We often sit outside and gaze at the moon and stars or on rare occasions watch the meteor showers, and as he constantly reminds me, the space program and the SEAL community have a very strong link. There...

New Release: Anne Elizabeth's A SEAL Forever

Happy release week to A SEAL Forever by Anne Elizabeth! To celebrate, we've got an excerpt from the book to share: *** Master Chief Declan Swifton of SEAL Team Five rolled over the side of the Rigid-hulled Inflatable Boat and slid soundlessly into the Pacific Ocean. The RIB took off without even a comment from the operator, leaving Declan to sink farther into the drink. The temperature cooled as he swam away from the surface. Fish skirted the edges of his thighs, small shimmers of movement against his skin. He scissor-kicked his way forward. The ocean currents caught him, dragging him in the direction they wanted to go, toward shore. He lay with his arms at his sides, frog-kicking only. Above him, he could see the afternoon sunlight glistening and frothy foam chasing away the glassy surface. Down here things were different…calmer. Peaceful, in a way few souls would understand, and yet he knew that even he would have to surface soon. His lungs would start to ache and bur...

Afternoon Delight at #rt12 by Sara Humphreys (pinch hitting for Anne Elizabeth)

Hello everyone! I'm pinch hitting for my friend Anne Elizabeth today. We're here in Chicago at the 2012 Romantic Times Convention and Anne asked if I could post for her on the blog today. I was more than happy to help out my friend. I don't know if everyone knows that Anne had a bit of a mishap. She tore her ACL and fractured her tibia! The poor kid is wheelchair bound but she's still workin' it at the convention. At the RT Convention there are tons of workshops/sessions that are for either readers, writers or librarians/booksellers. For the past few years, Anne has hosted an event for librarians and booksellers called Afternoon Delight. This was year number six and when Anne had a space available, I was only too happy to jump on board. It was such a thrill to be among this group of talented authors. Christina Skye, Angela Knight, C.H. Admirand, Renee Bernard and Anne Elizabeth. We had some super cute tote bags but the coolest part was this cake with all of our b...

HAPPY SUPER BOWL SUNDAY by Anne Elizabeth

Heroes, and Our Childhood Games... When I was a child most of the popular stories began with “Once upon a time...” We read about foreign lands and mythical creatures in addition to our favorite classics of Dr. Seuss, Aesop Fables, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, and Greek Myths.  Thus, our games were ones that took us to places like Greece where we acted out the tales of Zeus and so many others. We also had the standard imagination games of Cowboys and Indians; Post Office; Hospital; Grocery Store; and Comic Book Superhero.  This playtime collection provided the heroes and heroines for many, many afternoons of joy and became the basis for stories, dreams, and future aspirations. Recently, I spoke with friends who have children aged 3-10 and I learned there is a brand new game afoot called SEAL TEAM.  Where kids dress in SEAL Team-ware, which might or might not be limited to wearing an item with a Trident on it, black clothing, or camouflage attire in addi...

SETTING THE BAR by Anne Elizabeth

As the holiday season draws to a close and the New Year is about to begin, I’d like to share my version of a very common practice – the Resolution List.  In our home, the Navy values of “honor, courage, and commitment” are key forces.  Since we are like most couples – both of us work, we have a lot of family, and scheduling is tight – we try to implement organization when and where it is practical. Here’s my process: I sit down with a blank piece of paper and pencil to write out my greatest hopes and dreams for the coming year. "Non Sibi Sed Patriae!" (Not for self, but country) ~ a US Navy Motto Step One: For country and state: This is usually my loftiest goal area, and yet, somehow it ends up being one of the more successful realms.  Some of the items on my list may be small such as writing more letters and others may be larger such as helping more wounded warriors and disabled veterans to feel at home or settled in our area.  Whatever...

Many Thanks to All! by Anne Elizabeth

I am deeply honored to be a member of this a nation, a place where we willingly share and provide gratitude. This month we celebrated Thanksgiving and I must admit that it is one of my favorite holidays.  The unique spirit that is heralded throughout these United States as we stop our ordinary daily tasks to gather together and express our heartfelt messages of joy.  The time of sharing gratitude may be long or short, but together – as one people – we embrace this basic principle with our family, friends, community, and even more wonderfully strangers.  In my heart, this essence of kindness and morality is a precious time and worth relating to the military path for it makes me think of those who sacrifice for this nation.  Thus, when I talked to my husband about this month’s blog, my favorite retired Navy SEAL suggested I share the U.S. Navy SEAL Ethos.  This is an ethical belief, too, born out of courage, dedication, and a singular spirit — in...

Our Favorite Chuckle, and The Perfect Topic For Halloween...by Anne Elizabeth

W hen I first learned that this month’s CASA Blog theme is Things That Go Bump In The Night , I knew exactly what I wanted to write about: men and their camouflage applications.  Yes, that’s right – make-up!  For centuries, warriors (the Celts immediately spring to mind) have worn face coverings – masks and various feature-obliterating paints – over their visages to assist them in battle.  Oftentimes , using mud, clay, leaves, and a mixture of wines, dyes, and berries to aid their mission, they draw on their faces or don a covering before they set forth on their journey. Now, several of us – Navy SEAL wives – love to tease our husbands about wearing makeup; yes, the gooey stuff that comes in a multitude of hues.  No matter whether it's mud browns or tans, leaf greens or flat black, this camo cover can be a major benefit for our men on their sensitive military Ops.  In my opinion, this is a helpful way for Navy SEAL men to keep things from goin...
