The Hunt for the Pot 'O Gold

“Be vewy vewy quiet, we’we hunting lepwechauns,” Horace intoned, creeping along the lush grass covered path. He ignored the birds perched in the trees overhead, although he did growl when bird poo plopped on his head. “Dude, you have got to stop watching cartoons,” Puff muttered, nudging him with his ear. “Those cartoons are classics,” the gargoyle informed him, looking at the paths branching off. “We need to go left.” “We go right,” Fluff argued. “Hello!” Puff rolled his eyes. “We stay on this path for three more kilometers.” A small map hung from his ears. “Dude, didn’t you ever hear of GPS?” Horace hooted, flicking his claw at a map corner. “Dude.” Sarcasm dripped from the word. “Did you ever hear how our magick and electronics don’t mix?” “Plus Krebs wouldn’t let us use his,” Fluff muttered. “He said we already ruined four of them and he didn’t intend to see us screw up a fifth.” Horace came to a stop and stared at Puff, tipping his head to the side so far he almost fell over. “You...

Happy New Year From Horace!

"You are so taking me to the party!" Horace hopped up and down on the polished wood surface of Stasi's dresser as she rummaged through her closet. "No." Her word was muffled but that didn't stop the power she exuded. The six-inch grayish stone gargoyle snarled as he absently chewed on a razor sharp claw. "It's New Year's Eve." "And your point is?" Stasi pulled out a cobalt silk strapless dress with a flirty hem that revealed more than it covered. She hung the dress on a nearby hook and returned to the closet to find shoes. "I don't want to be alone."The 700-year plus witch ignored his mock-sorrowful tone. "You won't be alone. Bogie isn't going either." She looked over her shoulder and smiled at her beloved and magickal Yorkie/Chihuahua that tended to float along the floor instead of walking and disappeared if he thought he was in trouble. At the moment, the dog was sleeping peacefully in the middle ...

How Horace Came to be On Linda's Ankle

“So you’re really doing it?” Horace practically danced as he, Stasi, and Linda walked into the tattoo shop. “You won’t back out?” “Of course not,” Linda replied. “I have Fluff and Puff on my ankle, so why not you on the other one?” “Your funeral,” Stasi muttered, settling in a chair. “You could get a belly ring,” Horace suggested, hopping up on the arm and peering into Jazz’s bag. “Ow!” He blew on his singed fingers as he pulled them back before she zapped them again. “So he’s what you want on your ankle?” Pat asked, after getting a good look at the eight-inch gargoyle that occupied his time exploring the shop. The young tattoo artist kept a cautious eye on the mischievous creature. “He’s the one,” Linda confirmed. Horace wasted no time striking a gargoyle pose. “You’ll make me look good, right?” He followed Pat into the back, pointedly ignoring the ‘no passing beyond this point unless you’re getting a tattoo’. “I’m not just any gargoyle, ya know. I’m special.” Once the design was draw...

When Bunny Slippers and a Gargoyle go to Las Vegas

“I can’t believe she left us on the side of the road!” An outraged Horace threw up his stony arms as he paced back and forth in the dirt. “This is gargoyle abandonment.” “We got tossed out too.” A disgruntled Fluff sighed heavily. “But it’s your fault for telling Linda she’s a lousy driver.” “Cutting off another car is not a crime and she should have cut off that eighteen wheeler. Just use your magick and zap us to the hotel,” Horace suggested.Puff shook his head. “Jazz bound part of our magick, so we’re limited this week. She said we behave or else and we’re not going to use it all up first thing.” Horace looked off to the side. “What is –?” Fluff and Puff looked in the same direction and watched the snake slithering their way. “AUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!” They leapt into the air and landed on Horace’s head. The gargoyle shouted and batted at them, but no way they were getting down. All three looked at the road as a rattletrap truck slowly made its way toward them then stopped. The man that cli...

Las Vegas Baby!

“You get the book?” Puff asked, practically bouncing up and down with excitement. “Yeah, but it wasn’t easy.” Fluff wiggled his nose and a yellow and black large paperbound book dropped in front of him. “Las Vegas for Bunnies,” they read the title in unison, awe in their voices. “You really think she’s going to let us go?” Fluff tipped an ear toward the book so the pages would move. “Sure, she will. Jazz wouldn’t take us, but Linda will.” Puff practically buried his nose in one page. “Wow, look at all these games they play. Even craps.” His dark eyes sparkled with mischief. Fluff read along with him. “Uh, Puff, that’s not the kind of crap you’re thinking of.” “What’re you doing?” Horace ambled over to look over their fuzzy shoulders. “Linda’s going to Las Vegas and we’re going to ask her to take us with her. We want to be prepared for anything,” Fluff replied. The gargoyle plopped down next to them and began reading. “Craps!” “Not that kind of craps,” the bunny slippers told him. His e...

Horace Sits Down With Stasi

Horace – “I really should be the one interviewed here because I’m totally hot. Oh yeah, who’s the gargoyle?” Sighs heavily and throws up his claws when more than one set of eyes glare at him. “Okay, okay.” The eight-inch gargoyle coughed into his claw and waved off the sheaf of papers held out to him. “I’ll just wing it.” Stasi – “Horace.” He ignored her warning. “Who’s the interviewer and who’s the interviewee here?” He looked around, frowned at the lack of cameras and returned to Stasi who lounged in a chair across from him. “Stasi, my love. We all know you’re one of the thirteen witches expelled from the Witches Academy in 1313 and now you own a lingerie boutique that also features romance novels.” He raised a stony eyebrow. “Very nice reading on those long winter nights, I might add. But you’re also in the middle of a lawsuit filed in Wizards Court and we all know those guys have no sense of humor. What are you going to do about that?” “What can I do but fight it?” Stasi groaned. “...
