The Internet is Down, and then When it Comes Back?

It's Christmas again!!! A SEAL Wolf Christmas coming in October!!! Love it! You will get to see tons of the old home team from the Oregon Coast and Leidolf's red wolf pack in Portland. Even zoo man Thompson gets involved, again. This is the first Christmas story I've written, and since I always write some suspense, humor, romance, and a lot of wolf, it will have all the usual. This, like To Tempt the Wolf, I couldn't quit writing when I began it. It's just one of those books that practically wrote itself--characters will do that sometimes. They get away from me. They actually start out in the jungle on a SEAL-type mission, where you get to see what happens when Bjornolf and Anna are working on the same team...sort of. And then it's a new mission--of a Christmas nature. Only she doesn't buy into the whole Christmas Fa-La-La-La-La-La, La-La-La-La. Not only that, but Bjornolf and she have been assigned the job of ensuring a runaway teen do...

The My Most Memorable Thanksgiving Ever! by Terry Spear

So it's time to decorate for Thanksgiving, and my pyracantha is also in beautiful form just for Thanksgiving. It will turn red for Christmas! Are you ready for My Most Memorable Thanksgiving Ever? It's not the kind where you say, "Oooh," and "Ahh," and "How very nice and sweet." It's where you say, "OMG!" "How awful!" "I'm glad I wasn't visiting you for Thanksgiving!!!" Yep, and there it is: My Most Memorable Thanksgiving Ever. Stories that have no conflict are BORING. Who wants to read about them? Thanksgivings are the same as every Thanksgiving. Feasting, playing, family and friends gathering.  Totally unmemorable from one to the next. So we had to liven ours up to make it extra special. Wildlife included. The turkey dinner I shared with my mother and daughter was great. We had a terrific feast while my son was visiting friends elsewhere...but after he heard of OUR Thanksgiving, he said...

Research for Fun! by Terry Spear

Since I write about jaguar and wolf shifters, I've been to a wolf reserve to learn more about the wolves, not in their natural habitat, but heard them howl, one of the wolves was mourning the loss of its mate, and they were pacing. This wolf had finally left its house to come to the fence. He lost his mate 3 weeks earlier and it was the first time they said he'd left his house.   The wolf below was a total beta.   This was one of the wolves that they walked when we were at the St Francis Wolf Sanctuary. And here she is scent-rolling, gathering all the nice smells before she was returned to her pen.   So seeing their behavior does help to get the story right. At the zoo, they had no wolves, but they did have jaguars. So I wanted to share some of the pictures that I took that help with my research. I caught the jaguar snoozing at first, but he was playing later. I'll share some of those pictures on the 19th. :) I really went to the zoo to make sure that no j...

Spooktacular Days and Highland Ways by Terry Spear

Fog on a nice Halloweenish day, albeit a bit early. This was a view of my neighbor's yard that normally you can see clearly. Perfectly spooky, right? All the ghosts and witches and wait, black and white kitties and a black and white panda bear? Oh well, they wanted to be part of the plan! My mother gave me the black and white kittens and panda. Except panda is distracted. Hey, look at the camera, this way!! I had a black and white cat, Trixie, who was full of the devil and my baby for years. So I have a collection of black and white cats! Just pretend they are all black. :) Yes, the question is: Where is the spider who made this huge web??? Isn't it just perfect for Halloween? As long as it's outside and I'm not about to walk through it, yes! Why does the yard look so blurred beyond? It's not the camera, or the photographer or Photoshop, but we had a spectacularly ghoulish mist blanketing the whole area. Perfect for a Halloween da...

Overindulgence in Stories...by Terry Spear

That's it! I freely admit I'm addicted to storytelling. But it doesn't stop there. I love to read, to discover new worlds, to find new romance. *sigh* When I was a kid and budding teen, I loved to read. At one point, we were living in Central Florida, a swampy jungle across the street from our development, with the Sahara Desert- worthy mountains of sand across the canal from my backyard. But it was also hot and muggy and mosquitoes attacked every speck of skin not protected by insect repellent. So I loved to read inside in my air conditioned bedroom. My parents were not really big readers and wanted me outside to play. And so I explored the jungle with neighborhood kids (which I'm sure if my parents had known, they would have much preferred I stayed in my air conditioned bedroom to read a safe story), and climbed the sand dunes that stretched to the sky, all the while making up my own stories of pirate treasures, being marooned in the desert, or lost in a jungle, and a...

The She-Wolf Takes Charge of the First Kiss!

by Terry Spear First Kiss from WOLF FEVER: She glanced at the men standing about, including both Tom and Jake. Which made the situation worse. Why couldn’t any of the alpha males show any real interest in her? She was not a beta kind of girl. She supposed that was because her father had become so downtrodden by her mother’s treatment of him. She couldn’t see being married, um, mated to someone like that. “Carol?” Ryan said, his deep baritone voice again yanking her from her faraway thoughts. She really needed to get more sleep. She turned her attention back to Ryan. He thought she wasn’t being honest with him about her abilities, when he wasn’t honest about why he had been lurking in the woods last night, watching her window. She didn’t have to be psychic to know something more was going on between them. Time to turn the tables. Throw him off balance. Trying to look like this was a perfectly natural way for her to act, she smiled, wrapped her arms around his neck, and leaned into the s...

Wolfish Humor

I love a man with a sense of humor. If he can't take a joke, he'll never be able to win the heroine over. :) And even with suspense, a touch of humor helps to break up the tension. I don't write slapstick humor, but as one of my critique partners said my humor would sneak up behind her when she was least expecting it. It's not forced, it just happens. :) In these excerpts from three of my werewolf tales, I've shown what I hope shows a hint of humor. Sometimes without seeing more of the story, it might not be that humorous. And what some find humorous, others might not. Humor is really subjective. :) Excerpt from To Tempt the Wolf : “So who’s this guy really who was fixing your window?” Rourke asked. Hunter stalked back inside, catching Rourke’s question. “Tessa’s lover,” he said, with a smirk and the look of the devil sparkling in his eyes, his cheeks slightly red from the chill. She could have socked him. Rourke’s jaw couldn’t have dropped any lower. *** Excerpt fr...

Hot Santas!

Hunky Santa aims to get you hot for the holiday I've been having fun on my blog at: http://www.terry-spear.blogspot.com/ with more hunky Santas and I thought this was a fun news story because at the Los Angeles store, they're trying to spice up Christmas. And in a mall in Addison, Texas, there was a news story about a "shirtless" Santa, but he didn't have the muscles, nor the sexiness that these other Santas had. I do love his fur trimmings. I guess that's from making award-winning teddy bears. I love seeing quality fur that would make a nice teddy bear. :) Although I'm afraid if I wanted some of his fur, I wouldn't win in a wrestling match, even though it might be fun trying! So why the new fad? Are we now getting health conscious? Are Santas now only for the older girls? Well, I'm all for it! :) I love tradition--the Celtic Christmas music. Harp music. The Snowman . And some of the newer stuff too. But hunky Santas? HE can visit my house and sta...
