A Visit to the Rainforest! Moody Gardens Style!

Have you ever tried to grow orchids? They're gorgeous, but I haven't had any success with growing them in the house.  But just think how these beautiful flowers grow everywhere in the rainforest!  25,000-30,000 varieties. :)  Some are truly fragrant. Think of how it would be, winding your way through the rainforest and seeing these growing in the trees wild.  Solid? Speckled? :) You know what waterfalls are for, right??? :) Don't you love when something fun reminds you of something fun every time you see it? Like a waterfall in a particular rainforest jungle? :) So I just had to get a picture of it, so I could envision, well...jungle cats beneath the waterfall. Ah...those were the days. If you read Savage Hunger--you know what I mean--beyond the jungle are orchids and parrots and monkeys and Maya Anderson serving as a jaguar guard while you and Connor are... Well behind the waterfall...it's left up to your imagination.  Wo...

Salado Christmas--Trees Growing through Buildings by Terry Spear

This is an actual Live Oak tree limb growing through an 1870's building that was moved in front of the Stagecoach Inn in the 1930's. Rather than cut the tree limb, they made room for it! That's what I call Hug-a-Tree tree lovers. :) Another shop in Salado all decked out in Christmas finery! Here is the rest of the tree branch. Note that it has a metal stand that holds the branch up! The live oaks are huge in Salado, and their branches just keep on growing! :) And here are some other bears I created for the Christmas season. Where would Santa bear be without his elves? These are the Elfinberries . They're pastel dyed, imported alpaca wool and have suede paws in different colors. And I got an early Christmas present from Sourcebooks!!! What more can I say than that???? Now that's what I call a CHRISTMAS present! Snow, wolf and Tom, and all..... Where's the mistletoe? Don't need it! Just one hot body to keep us warm. He's c...

Old Time Christmas in Salado by Terry Spear

I loved the old buildings in Salado decorated for Christmas. We walked all over and saw many of the homes/shops that are on the historical tour. Many of these were built in the 1860's. It seems a long time ago, until I think of visiting the Scottish castles!!!   Here are some more of the shops and their wooden walkways. Inside one of the old buildings that once was a residence and now a shop I took a picture of the rock work and pretty mirrored chest, and caught myself in the mirror! I didn't realize I had. Debbie, poor thing, was my coat bearer while I took pictures. It looked like it would rain, but it never did, so we finally ditched the coats in the car. I kept apologizing to her for having to be the workhorse on the trip, and if I had wanted to hide the fact she was carrying our coats, I captured it in the picture. So no tall tales there... I loved the stone work in the buildings, and in the mirror, you can also see how the glass door has a glass window abov...

Christmas in Salado! by Terry Spear

Lovely decorated Christmas tree at one of the shops in Salado. Many of the buildings are circa 1860s and newer. Some of the buildings are new, but have the old west or Victorian appeal. Some didn't bother and are like the usual--store in a box to make money, forget the nostalgia of the old town. Which is a real shame. They're eyesores of the community. I took a lot of pictures of the old town and will share them. Hope you enjoy! My mother and I used to go there about 3 times a year--it was our favorite place to see. I haven't been back since she died three years ago. Just couldn't do it. I did miss being with her when I went with my friend, and sharing the joy of visiting the various shops that we always enjoyed. But my friend, Debbie, was just as interested in all the old architecture, so we walked all over Salado for about 6 hours! Had a blast! This is a picture of one of my favorite shops to visit. Notice the flowering plant in the courtyard despite it...

What's in the Water with You? by Terry Spear

A shark...these stayed on the bottom and can be dangerous as you walk along a sandy bottom and stir them up. Especially places like on the east coast of Florida where you couldn't see anything in the murky water. A cute little fish. Not dangerous! A ray. We actually fed them in Grand Cayman Islands just as Duncan and Shelley do in A Howl for a Highlander. But their tail can be dangerous. Eels...not nice at all. He looks like he's watching us and ready to give us some trouble. So my advice to Duncan and Shelley is to avoid picture number 1 and 4 and be careful around picture number 3. He knows how to take care of sharks though. Just wait to hear how he'll do so in A Howl for a Highlander! Him, yum....Duncan's used to swimming in the Irish Sea or chilly Highland lochs...but put him in the islands, and it's a whole different sea world. A Howl for the Highlander (Book 10) ...

Upcoming Releases and Blog Tour Schedule for Savage Hunger! by Terry Spear

Creating books is only part of the process of being an author. Creating fun ways to promote can be another. The other day, one of my fans had a really neat picture of herself with wolves, inspired by me, she said. Thanks, Donna! So off I went to check out the site and low and behold, I sacrificed hours of writing on JAGUAR FEVER, my bad (though I did get 3,000 words written yesterday), but I got hooked on making up a new profile picture for Facebook, and some more for guest blogs for the upcoming book tour. So here's what I came up with. imikimi - sharing creativity Yep, it's my brand. Wolves. imikimi - sharing creativity  But now I have jaguars too. Sometimes finding the right picture can be a chore, if you're like me and don't have many very nice ones, but I found one that could work for the picture so there you have it! Me in the jungle with one of my big cats. Now, figuring out which one of them it is, will be the really tough part. I also updat...

The Jungle is Heating up with Jaguars! by Terry Spear

First, you have that predatory look. It's time for some action-packed loving--the jungle's hot, but it gets hotter when the jaguars arrive.   A Jaguar at Edinburgh Zoo .  Hmm, maybe there are Highland jaguar shifters in Scotland! All that golden skin, lovely black rosettes, whiskers that sense even the slightest movement in the air current, and he's watching you sitting up in that tree, intending to join you soon. So be ready. He wants some kitty-cat comfort. And you're ready. So here's the first of the jaguar men. He's looking for you. Protective and caring. Savage Hunger  Hot and yummy. Yet comfortable in either of his forms. And here's the next one, who's just as intrigued with you. JAGUAR FEVER Thanks to Sourcebooks for combining wolves and jaguars on a book mark for conference! They're beautiful! They look so nice with my watermelon red crepe myrtles in full bloom in the Texas heat! You don...

Conflict! Conflict! Conflict! and Happy Hookers in New Orleans!

As in workshops! Yep, I'll be driving to New Orleans today so hope that this posts and doesn't do like it sometimes does and the scheduled post turns into a draft and doesn't publish. Horrors. Okay, so HOW did I come up with the title for my hooky workshop? An author was telling us the story about how her pre-schooler was helping hang Christmas ornaments on the tree with momma and daddy. She exclaimed, "We're happy hookers!" Gotta love kids and their priceless expressions. I loved the notion and it gave me the whole idea for the workshop. :) One author's husband wanted to take the class. Not to learn to write, but just because he loved the title. You see? It hooked! :) When I was asked what I was teaching in New Orleans, both by patrons and coworkers, I said, "Happy Hookers!" Lots of surprised looks and laughs. "Hooking, you know, as in writing." It's already March 1, the leaves are coming out on the trees, we've had 9...
