A
warm Casa welcome to fellow Sourcebooks author, USA Today and New York Times
Bestseller, Susanna Kearsley! Her latest novel, The Firebird, hit stores this month and she’s here to celebrate!
Redneck
Women on Long Island
What’s better than celebrating the
publication day of a new book? Getting to celebrate that publication day with a
friend and fellow Sourcebooks author!
Last week, Sara Humphreys—fresh from her
own recent promotions last month for her new book Undone—made the long drive in
to help me celebrate the publication of The Firebird with a chat and signing at
the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library in Valley Stream, Long Island.
We fielded questions from a great group of
library patrons and readers, including a couple of young teenaged writers whose
work I expect we’ll be rea
ding one day. Here we are with Library Director Mamie Eng, in front of the wonderful mural that served as a backdrop for the event.
Afterwards, we went in search of food and
were advised to head to Cabo, a Mexican restaurant in nearby Rockville Centre,
where our server warned us it was Karaoke Night. (The heck you say!) WHO KNEW
that Sara was a Karaoke Queen? She rocked the house with her rendition of the
Gretchen Wilson classic “Redneck Woman”.
It really was so great to have a
Sourcebooks “sister” there to make my pub day something special. And be warned:
if there are Karaoke Bars awaiting us at Nationals this summer in Atlanta, I’ll
be signing Sara up!
Thanks
to Susanna for joining us today! For a chance to win one of 2 copies of The Firebird, tell us what song you
would sing during karaoke. (US and Canada only, please leave an email address
so we can easily reach you. Winners will be chosen and announced in the
comments on Friday, June 14.)
