Give Me Something Light and Fluffy! Sourcebooks Women’s Fiction + GIVEAWAY!

by Danielle Jackson, Sourcebooks Senior Publicist

From the flirty Bridget Jones’ Diary to the poignant The Help, women’s fiction is one of those genres that can be both confusing and consuming… And something I’ve learned over the years—women’s fiction readers are very similar to romance readers! We definitely see a crossover in appeal and readership between these two categories. And even though publishers are returning from Book Expo America, touting their big serious books for the Fall, summer is just getting started, and it’s time for those light, fluffy FUN reads. Call ‘em chick lit or beach reads, here are some of Sourcebooks’ latest women’s fiction novels:

The Blue-Ribbon Jalapeño Society Jubilee by Carolyn Brown (March 2013) From our very own Carolyn—a novel of friendship, gossip and the hottest jalapeños in all of Texas! Southern Women’s Fiction

The Last Telegram by Liz Trenow (April 2013) A woman looks back on her life working at a silk factory that made parachutes during WWII… one decision will change her life forever. WWII Historical Women’s Fiction

From the Kitchen of Half Truth by Maria Goodin (April 2013) What would you do if everything your mom told you about your life growing up was a fantastically foodie fantasy? One woman’s journey to find the truth brings her closer to her mother. Delicious Women’s Fiction

What a Mother Knows by Leslie Lehr (May 2013) A mother wakes up from a coma to find her daughter missing… though something tells her that everyone knows more than they let on… Thriller-ish Women’s Fiction

Thinking of You by Jill Mansell (May 2013) A recent empty-nester tries to come to terms with her new life without her daughter around. A poignant and funny story of mothers, daughters, friends, and lovers...and what happens when everything takes a turn for the unexpected. British Women’s Fiction

The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley (June 2013) Check out Susanna’s awesome guest post here! A psychic knows that doing the right thing means helping the man she once left—and still secretly loves—as they follow a child in the past who might lead them to truth in the present. Time-Travel Women’s Fiction

Tainted Angel by Anne Cleeland (June 2013) In the tradition of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Tainted Angel takes readers on a fast-paced adventure story in which it’s never quite clear who is outwitting whom. Anne will be our guest blogger on the Casa blog tomorrow! Women’s Fiction… with SPIES!

Meet Me at the Cupcake Café by Jenny Colgan (July 2013) A sweet and satisfying novel of how delicious it is to discover your dreams… After she’s fired by her supposed boyfriend, one woman makes her dream of opening her own bakery come true. But owning her own café is NOT the piece of cake she expected it to be. Women's Fiction... with recipes!

If the Shoe Fits by Megan Mulry (July 2013) To grab this girl, he’s going to have to take a walk in her shoes... A British aristocratic playboy has found the girl of his dreams, in an American entrepreneur—who is not impressed by his royal status, or his rakish ways. But a royal wedding, their meddling families work to bring these two together. Anglophile Women's Fiction

Don't they look fabulous? Great reads for summer! And because I’m in such a sunny mood, I’m going to give away 2 PRIZE PACKS of the 9 Books listed above—authors, this is open to you, too! Just tell me in the comments what book(s) you are most excited to read this summer. Winners will be announced in the comments on Monday, June 17.
