Scandalous Ever After, second in Theresa Romain's Regency romance series Romance of the Turf, is out now!
Does love really heal all wounds?
After being widowed by a steeplechase accident
in Ireland, Lady Kate Whelan abandons the turf. But once her mourning is
complete, her late husband’s debts drive her to seek help in Newmarket amidst
the whirl of a race meet. There she encounters antiquities expert Evan Rhys,
her late husband’s roguish friend—whom she hasn’t seen since the day of his
lordship’s mysterious death.
Now that fate has reunited them, Evan seizes
the chance to win over the woman he’s always loved. But once back within the
old stone walls of Whelan House, long-held secrets come to light that shake up
everything Kate thought she knew about her marriage. Now she wonders who she
can trust with her heart—and Evan must decide between love and a truth that
will separate him from all his heart desires.
Theresa is here to tell us how she'll celebrate release day:
Hi, everyone! It’s nice to be visiting the Sourcebooks
Casablanca blog today.
My awesome publicist Stefani suggested I tell you all how
I’ll be celebrating release day for my newest historical romance, Scandalous
Ever After. Since I’m writing this before release day—July 4—but you’re
reading it afterwards, we have a bit of a time conundrum. How will I have spent
release day? Are those even the correct verb forms?
Every time a new book hits stores and ereaders, it’s a real
thrill. Seeing all that work in a tangible form is so satisfying—and also more
than a little nerve-racking as reader verdicts begin to come in. Usually on
release day, I check on my guest blogs for the day, keep up on social media, work
on my current project, and—if I’m lucky—take a nap. I can usually persuade my
husband to pick up takeout for dinner, too.
But since Scandalous Ever After comes out on
Independence Day, this release day will be more than a little unusual. I won’t
have a workday for writing and guest-blogging; my husband and daughter will be
home for the day, and we’ll be looking forward to barbecue and fireworks in the
evening. I’m also on deadline, finishing up a book to turn in just after the
long weekend. The combination of being on deadline for one book and getting
ready for the release of another is stretching my brain in some odd ways.
And so, alas, I probably won’t get the coveted
release-day nap. But there’s a lot to look forward to otherwise! I can’t think
of a better way to observe the release day of a new book than by being with the
people I love and doing the work that brings me such satisfaction. Readers, I
hope you’ll enjoy Kate and Evan’s love story in Scandalous Ever After.
And me—I’ll be working on a new one for you!
