Mother's Day by Shana Galen

I probably don't have to remind you that Mother's Day is coming in about 8 days. I look forward to this day every year because it's the one day I can request and receive a nap. Not this year! My daughter's ballet studio scheduled her recital at 2 p.m. on Mother's Day. What is THAT about? I'll be celebrating (and napping) on Saturday instead.

If you haven't decided what to get your mom (or what to ask for), here are some ideas.

5. Jewelry
Moms love jewelry, whether it's a new watch or a necklace with the birthstones of their children or grandchildren. You can't go wrong with a nice pair of earrings or a pretty bracelet.

4. Flowers
I love flowers. My cats do too, so this isn't a good gift for me. I do love plants I can plant and enjoy all year.

3. Framed picture of the kids or grandkids
I love to pictures of my daughter and my nieces and nephews all together. This year we hired a photographer to do some shots of all the grandchildren in bluebonnets. I had my favorite print made into a canvas.

2. Spa Gift Card
What mom doesn't want a manicure, pedicure, massage, or facial. Hey, just some quiet alone time is nice.

1. Arts/Crafts from Kids (and a spa gift card)
I love drawings, crafts, and cards my daughter has made. They're so sweet and special because they're from her heart. But not to my husband--I still want that spa gift card!

What are your gift ideas?

  1. I'll take the spa day! And spending time with Brian and my boys makes me happy. Happy Mother's Day (in advance) to you! Enjoy your Saturday nap. :-)

  2. Early Happy Mom's Day to all of you who celebrate. It is a moot point for me...but one can never go wrong with a gift cert for books or See's Candies as far as I am concerned!
