Christmas? Seriously? by Victoria Roberts

Does it seem like Christmas comes earlier and earlier every year, or is it just me?

Last week, I opened my mail only to discover three Christmas magazines. I'm sorry, but the last time I checked Halloween's not even here yet. Gheez. And want to know the worst part? I scanned through all the magazines...looking for Christmas presents to buy!

Although Christmas is one of my favorite times of year, I want to slow down the pace. I want to savor the changing leaves, the crisp autumn weather, and enjoy hay rides with the kids. I want to carve pumpkins, drink hot apple cider, and snuggle under a warm blanket in front of a bonfire. I want to take long walks in the woods and shuffle my feet in the fallen leaves. I think Mia wrote about high school Friday night football games the other day. Who can remember those times? *sigh* Simple pleasures.

Take time to enjoy today because you never know what's waiting around the corner...

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?

  1. Sad to admit this...but yes. I'm a closet early Christmas shopper. I make my lists around mid May and then the sneaky shopping begins. Something about having that list completed and everything wrapped and under the tree...because I want to savor the Christmas season and keep thinking if I get it all done there will be time to sit around the tree, sipping wassail or whatever and watching the twinkling lights. (rarely happens) But I can still hope! PS: Bought Christmas ornaments and ribbon last week...better hurry or it will be all gone!

    1. Oh, Michele. I do admire people who get their Christmas shopping done early. I am not one of those people. I usually start after Thanksgiving.

  3. Heck no on Christmas shopping lol. I use to think about it after Thanksgiving, then it was after Halloween but I refuse to start thinking about it now.

    1. You sound like my mom, Susan. She used to do that all the time and love when we'd unwrap her gifts because she forgot what she bought.
