We all hate it, don't we? Whether it's waiting in line at the grocery store or waiting to hear a loved one arrived someplace safely, waiting, to put it mildly, sucks.
We crave instant gratification. We want it NOW!
As I write this post, my DH and I are waiting to see if we have received an offer we can accept on on our condo in Boston. We have an appointment with our realtor at 5 this evening, so we don't have much longer to squirm, but believe me, we've already been waiting for quite some time.
Some 30+ months ago, my DH said he wanted to figure out a way for him to retire early and for us to move back to the Midwest where most of our family lives. At the time, I didn't see how in the world we'd be able to accomplish that, but like a good little spousal unit, I didn't rain on his crazy parade.
Turns out, he wasn't so crazy. He's a pretty smart guy, so it shouldn't have surprised me that he'd come up with a workable plan. Little by little over the last 2 1/2 years, we've been taking the baby steps that have led us to this moment . . . of waiting.
Selling the condo is one of the final pins to drop in our plan. If all goes well, we'll be headed westward in early May. I'll let you know how it all pans out.

I've been sharing everything from my paint choices (which I like to call 50 Shades of Beige!) to cabinetry and would love your input because I'm sort of design-challenged.
Of course, my DH isn't the only one in my life with a plan.

Right now we're trying to plan a vacation, and I'm so excited about it, but the planning is awful. That's how moves are for me too. I love it when they're done, but getting to that point can be torture.

DeleteLast year we planned a wedding and prepped our house. It was lots of fun and so worth it to see our daughter and new SIL so happy. Three months later they announced they are expecting, so we are now waiting! Our first grandson is due in July. May your move go a smooth as possible!

DeleteI could use a little more waiting, a moment to slow down in a busy year. It's whizzing by! But usually, yes, hate waiting. But house reno is fun! The excitement of something new. Enjoy!

DeleteOh, I hope your waiting is over, Mia, and you get the offer you have been waiting for. We are in a similar situation, waiting to find out when the closing date will be on the foreclosure we just purchased. You're right; waiting does suck.

I'm tickled to report that we did get a terrific offer and what's more, the couple included the sweetest letter with their offer. They're just starting out and can't wait to turn the 2nd bedroom into a nursery. They love the area and the building and I think they'll be really happy here. I know we have been.
DeleteHow exciting, Mia. Mr. B says retirement is the best job he's ever had. We just came through Missouri yesterday on our way to Indianapolis...nice state. I bet you'll like it and I know it will love you!
ReplyDeleteThe DH says he will probably look for something else to do once we get settled in MO, but he wants the option of doing nothing for about 6 months. He deserves it.
DeleteIt seems like we spend our whole life waiting for something... When my kids were in school, it was waiting to pick them up. O r waiting at the Dr. 's office. I got lots of good reading done then :-) Now it's for time to pass till we leave on vacation! The novella is about the only book of yours I don't have...Thanks for the opportunity
