Welcome back to
fellow Casablanca author, Elizabeth Michels! She’s here to celebrate the release
of book 2 in the Tricks of the Ton Series, Desperately
Seeking Suzanna:
Let’s Dance!
Thanks for hosting me on the Casablanca Authors Blog today!
I’m so excited to be here, celebrating the release of the second book in my
Tricks of the Ton series, Desperately Seeking Suzanna! Suzanna is a fiery vixen
who puts gentlemen under her spell as she dances the night away…too bad she
doesn’t exist. In truth, Suzanna is just
ordinary Sue Green who has either truly unfortunate dancing skills or simply
bad timing, as she injures a gentleman and then refuses to dance with him
repeatedly over an entire season. Isn’t
dancing fun?!
I’ve always loved all types of dance. I started taking ballet lessons when I was 4
years old and continued with it until I went away to college. In addition to ballet, I’ve taken tap, jazz,
hip hop, attended master classes and even went to New York to see if the
professional dancer’s life was for me—it wasn’t. But, I digress. I still love to dance at parties. This is a launch party, right? *taps on
computer screen* So, let’s get this party started! I love going to events that
have a DJ and a dance floor. It’s so
much fun to bust a move with good friends.
Of course, there is always the issue of how one looks while busting said
move.
I like to think I look like this on the dance floor…
Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure I actually look like this…
Or maybe, on my best day, this…
However I look, it doesn’t matter though. I dance for fun and nothing more, much like
Sue in Desperately Seeking Suzanna. She
is busy entertaining her sister and cousins with a drunken cancan dance down a
stairway when she meet something she wasn’t expecting, something that would
change her life forever…
Sue smiled and hurried to the landing where
the stairs turned to the left, and spun to face her family. She held the banister rail behind her back
and allowed her arms to slip to the sides as she arched her back and shot a
seductive look over her shoulder into the darkness. The girls laughed as Victoria called out,
“Suzanna, you light skirt!”
Gathering the hem of her gown
once more, Sue dipped one foot down to the next step as one might test cool
water in a pond. Then she ran her foot
up her other leg and began kicking with each step down the stairs. She paused her descent every few steps to
shimmy her bosom for the enjoyment of her family. They were still laughing as she neared the
bottom of the steps. She raised her
skirts to the point of indecency and kicked as high as her leg would allow,
attempting to finish her dance with flair.
It wasn’t until the toe of her
beaded slipper met something hard that she stopped and immediately fell back
onto the step behind her with a thud.
Her eyes grew wide beneath her
mask as she looked up at the figure wearing black at the base of the
stairs. His golden blond hair was the
only bit of color shining in the dim lamplight cast from a single wall
sconce. His head was bend away from her
so she couldn’t see his face. Who had
she injured? Had he seen her dance? She wasn’t even supposed to be here. Oh, what had she done?
“You broke my nose!” His deep voice was muffled behind his hand.
I hope you enjoyed this peek into Desperately Seeking
Suzanna. Thank you again for hosting me
today! Now, let’s dance! What’s your favorite dance move?

DESPERATELY SEEKING
SUZANNA BY
ELIZABETH MICHELS – IN STORES MARCH 2014
Her Cinderella Moment…
Sue Green just wanted one night
to be the pretty one. But a few glasses of champagne and one wild disguise
later, she's in some serious trouble. Who knew the devastatingly handsome face
of Lord Holden Ellis would get in the way of her foot? And how exactly did all
that high-kick dancing start in the first place? At least she blamed it on her
new persona—Suzanna—so Society's most eligible bachelor will never find out the
truth.
All
Holden wants is the truth. Who was that vixen who seduced him so thoroughly,
then disappeared? The only one who seems to have any answers about Suzanna is Miss
Sue Green. She's promised to help him find his mystery woman, but she's not
being all that helpful. And the more time Holden spends with Sue—witty, pretty,
and disarmingly honest—the more he realizes he may have found exactly what he's
been looking for all along...

Purchase Desperately Seeking Suzanna:
I don't think I have any "moves!" I do like watching others dance and it's always romantic when a couple does a dip. I love watching my daughter dance. She dances with such abandon and joy. That's how it should be!
ReplyDeleteLOL Shana, I think my "moves" shouldn't be called "moves." Watching children dance is so much fun! I dance with my 6 year-old little boy in the living room all the time. We get down with our bad selves! ;)
DeleteMy favorite dancing move must be turning the TV to Dancing With the Stars. Alas, I am no dancer. Congrats on Suzanna!
ReplyDeleteDancing with the Stars is so much fun to watch! My favorite is So You Think You Can Dance. The choreography is unbelievable--love it! Thanks for the congrats!
DeleteI used to dance in high heels and tight skirts. Now I rule yoga pants and tube socks, but I tried tap dancing when I was a little girl and loved it. My mom was a ballet dancer for 17 or 18 years but, alas, I did not inherit those genes. Congratulations on your book's release, Elizabeth! I'm sharing the news.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gina! You can bust a move in tube socks and yoga pants--just perhaps not in public. LOL Thanks for sharing my news! :)
DeleteI took dance lessons and learned the tango. It is so fun to dance if you have a good partner.

Joye, that sounds like fun!!! I've always wanted to take lessons. I bet it was a blast. :)
DeleteNot really a dancer myself, but I do like to watch Dancing with the Stars. Loved the first book in this series and I can't wait to read about Sue and Holden.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you liked Must Love Dukes, Sheryl! Today is such an exciting day since I get to share Sue and Holden with the world! I hope you enjoy their story! :)
DeleteI LOVE to dance though I am bad at it LOL I can't wait to read this one, Elizabeth! Congratulations on book 2 :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Christy! We'll have to dance poorly together at the next writer's conference! LOL Thanks for the congrats! :)
DeleteYour book sounds like a fun read. I love to dance but don't have a best move. Nowadays, it is just turning a radio on and dancing however the music moves me...all while cooking, doing the laundry, or running the vacuum. :)
ReplyDeleteLil, I jam out to my tunes while I'm cooking too and I'm so glad no one can see me. ;) I hope you enjoy Desperately Seeking Suzanna!
DeleteI am a horrible dancer but I do love to dance. I hope I don't look like Elaine Benes from Seinfeld. LOL. Your book sounds awesome. Love the cover.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Crystal! LOL I don't think anyone would want to look like Elaine from Seinfeld! I'm sure you're not *that* bad. ;) I hope you enjoy Desperately Seeking Suzanna!
DeleteI've never danced as much as I've wanted - I use to be able to pull my husband out on the dance floor but he never liked dancing much (so sometimes I dance with other women) but my best moves are probably with the slow dance since I've had more practice at that lol. I loved your sneak peek!
ReplyDeletecatslady5(at)aol.com
I prefer dancing with my friends versus my husband, probably because I know he's just trying to make me happy and is truly miserable on the dance floor. And, my friends and I make up dances to entertain each other, like the "shopping for groceries" move, the "mowing the grass" move and my personal favorite in which one person "fishes" while the other "swims" around the dance floor. LOL I hope you like Desperately Seeking Suzanna!
DeleteDon't have a fav

Way to go freestyle with it on the dance floor! Thanks for commenting! :)
DeleteCongrats on your second book Elizabeth, sounds like great fun! I'm certainly not a dancer, I've got 2 left feet (or maybe 2 right feet?). I'm just not coordinated enough-I'm lucky I can walk around without crashing into things! LOL Although I do love watching others dance, like the Worm or the Sprinkler, those always cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteoops, forgot my addy :-)
Deletethebigbluewall77 AT gmail DOT com
Anita, I'm a fan of the sprinkler too. Thanks for the congrats! I'm really excited about this story! :)
DeleteSounds awesome! I am more of a freestyler/swayer on the dance floor. LOL. Back when I was a teenager I had some great moves at the local dance bar - lost it all having kids. :)
ReplyDeletelattebooks at hotmail dot com
Susan, kids can cramp the style. Good thing they're so cute! LOL I hope you like the book! :)
DeleteHi Elizabeth! I dance more like Elaine on Seinfeld, but having fun is what matters. :) Desperately Seeking Suzanna sounds like a lot of fun, too.
ReplyDeleteLike Crystal! A potential dance companion!
DeleteSherri, I was just going to suggest the same thing! LOL Having fun is all that matters. I hope you enjoy Desperately Seeking Suzanna! :)
DeleteI have absolutely no rhythm but that doesn't stop me from trying to bust a move. My "move" though is more of a random shimmy as I shift my weight back and forth lol And of course some strategic arm movements to off-set that! It works....most of the time :P Looking forward to reading Desperately Seeking Suzanna! Sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteahui89 at hotmail dot com
Ada, "most of the time" sounds about like my moves. LOL I hope you enjoy Desperately Seeking Suzanna!
DeleteThe best dance move I ever had was going up on full point in a pair of rock climbing boots. There was a reason I called them my orthopedic ballet slippers. Those days are long gone.
ReplyDeletevlettel @ cox.net
Virginia, you are a rock star! That sounds awesome! :)
DeleteDancing is an art. It is joyful and makes a person happy to move in such manners. I'm not very good at it but love to go dancing.

Thank you so much!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that she mentions this. Now I know why I am not allowed to have open toe sandals. And here she convinced me that crocs were "cool". For the record my feet are not that bad.
