IT TAKES TWO TO TANGLE Launch Party—Bring Your Friends!

Hi, everyone! Yesterday was the official on-sale date of my first Sourcebooks romance, IT TAKES TWO TO TANGLE. So far it’s been a wild and wonderful ride: spotting the book on the shelves for the first time and seeing it featured by one of my favorite authors, Eloisa James, who called it “a beautifully written novel that balances laughter with healing.”

Here’s a little summary of the story:
WOOING THE WRONG WOMAN…
Henry Middlebrook is back from fighting Napoleon, ready to re-enter London society where he left it. Wounded and battle weary, he decides that the right wife is all he needs. Selecting the most desirable lady in the ton, Henry turns to her best friend and companion to help him with his suit…
IS A TERRIBLE MISTAKE…
Young and beautiful, war widow Frances Whittier is no stranger to social intrigue. She finds Henry Middlebrook courageous and manly, unlike the foppish aristocrats she is used to, and is inspired to exercise her considerable wit on his behalf. But she may be too clever for her own good, and Frances discovers that she has set in motion a complicated train of events that’s only going to break her own heart…

Tempted to read it for yourself? Oh, how I hope so. A blog tour has kicked off and will last all month, with interviews and excerpts and posts and book giveaways galore. The whole tour lineup is listed here: http://theresaromain.com/news/ I hope you’ll be able to join the fun!

Speaking of fun: I said in the post title that you should bring your friends. I’ve brought mine! Today on the Discover a New Love blog, some of my favorite historical romance authors are throwing a party, and we’re all invited. Somehow I wangled my way into the company of Katharine AsheShana GalenErin KnightleyKieran Kramer, and Miranda Neville. All day we’re running fun posts and offering live  chats (text, not video--so feel free to wear your PJs; no one will ever know). And the prizes? Ohhhh, the prizes. We really got creative with those—and though I’d never say you should attend JUST for the prizes, I can faithfully promise you that one of them is chocolate.

This chocolate. I KNOW.

How about a little IT TAKES TWO TO TANGLE excerpt before you dart over to Discover a New Love? In this exclusive teaser, wounded ex-soldier Henry has just blundered badly with Frances, a friend for whom he’s beginning to feel….more.

In trying to give her something that would matter to her, he’d only raised old ghosts—at least, that was what he guessed when he saw that haunted look on her face.

Such longing for a lost one was familiar. He’d been competing with the ghost of his old self since he’d come back to London, hadn’t he? But there was nothing to be gained by chasing spirits. The joy of the pursuit turned hopeless as soon as they vanished.

He hoped he could convince Frances of this. But first, he needed to convince himself.

Heavy red wax from the letter’s seal softened under his fingertips. Henry lowered the letter to his side and flexed his feet in his boots, his shoulders against the yielding surface of the mattress.

He would never have to sleep on the ground again. He would never have to march for miles under a sun baked hot enough to leach the color from his uniform. And yet… he’d never really be free of the war if he always held the secret of Quatre Bras inside him.

He owed Caro an explanation first of all. And then—then he owed Frances the full truth. He must build his new life on a sturdy foundation, or it would all be flimsy and fragile.

Each society ball would be a building block, each call at Albemarle Street the mortar. If Caro had given Henry the determination to stay in London, to make something of himself again, Frances had inspired him to consider how he might do that. How a man with one arm could take hold in high society again. How someone who had seen the horrors of war could understand how to live in peace.

He didn’t have all the answers yet, but he knew how to find them. Starting tomorrow.

Historical romance author Theresa Romain pursued an impractical education that allowed her to read everything she could get her hands on. She then worked for universities and libraries, where she got to read even more. Eventually she started writing, too. She lives with her family in the Midwest, where she is working on her next book.
