Please welcome back Julie Ann
Walker! Her latest book, In
Rides Trouble, is in stores this
month! That’s right—she’s got a back to back to back release schedule for her debut
military romantic suspense trilogy…
Hidey-ho everybody. 'Tis I, Julie Ann Walker. As promised, I'm baaacckk. And, boy-howdy, am I ever ready to par-tay! Today on the Casablanca blog I'm celebrating
the release of the second Black Knights Inc. book, IN RIDES TROUBLE. So grab a glass of something tasty, crank up
some fast tunes, and come along with me as I introduce you to Frank
"Boss" Knight and Becky "Rebel" Reichert.
Besides each of them having
stubborn streaks a country-mile wide, you won't find two people more
opposite. Frank is built like an Abram's
tank and Becky is so petite she's almost diminutive. At twenty-six, Becky still views the world
with wide-eyed optimism and, at nearly forty, Frank is nothing if not
jaded. Becky's artistic; and Frank
spends his free time sharpening his knives.
But if there's one thing we've learned throughout the ages, it's that
opposites attract. And these two are so
hot together, I think their story should come with a warning label. But don't take my word for it. Read for yourself.
To set the scene, an injured
Frank is in the sickbay of a Navy Destroyer after having rushed to Becky's
rescue. And he's high as the proverbial
kite on pain medication...
“You
know,” he said, opening his eyes, the color was dark and turbulent, like Lake
Michigan after a nor’easter, “I’ve missed your sharp little tongue.”
The
way he said the word tongue made her own
feel as if it was weighed down by an anvil.
And
the way he was staring at her? Man, she was either dreaming or imagining
things, because this just couldn’t be real.
“You’ve
missed my sharp tongue?” she managed, panting as he brought her hand to his
whisker-covered cheek. He rubbed his face on her palm like a cat seeking
comfort. “Now, why is that, Frank? Is nobody stepping up to the plate and
poking holes in your ego on a…,” she licked her lips again, “on a regular
basis? Is your swelled head st…starting to hurt?”
“Mmm,”
he grinned, his big square teeth blazing as white as the bandage on his head,
“maybe.” He lazily snaked his hand around the back of her neck and slowly
started pulling her down.
If
she’d been the fainting type, she’d have gone lights-out right then and there,
but she was not that type of girl. And thank God
she wasn’t, or she’d have missed the feel of his hot breath brushing across her
tingling lips.
“Frank,” she whispered his name, her
heart threatening to come crashing through her breastbone.
He
groaned, the sound intoxicatingly fierce and darkly yearning, and then he was
kissing her.
Her. Rebecca Reichert, the thorn in
his side, the professed bane of his existence, and his full male lips were so
warm and surprisingly smooth as they brushed over her own.
She
was instantly caught in a storm of his making when he angled her head with the
gentle pressure of his thumb along her jaw, licking lazily at the seam of her
lips. Opening to him wasn’t an option; it was automatic. And when he dove
inside, she melted against his chest. That wasn’t an option either since her
knees just gave out.
Oh,
she finally understood what it meant to be tempest-tossed.
But what she couldn’t understand was whether Frank was the storm or the shelter
from the storm. She only knew that she
wanted it to go on forever. The devouring plunge of his tongue into her mouth,
the smell of him so warm and male inside her nose, the feel of his heavy chest
cushioning the sensitive weight of her breasts, the deep sounds of hunger and
triumph he made at the back of his throat, and the answering groans of desire
and surrender at the back of her own.
This is wrong. This is so
wrong!
She
recognized that voice. It was reason, and it occasionally screeched at her, but
she chose to ignore it because what they were doing felt so, so
right...
See? What did I tell you? Hot, hot, hot! Thanks for celebrating with me today on
the Casablanca blog and be sure to come back next month for the third book in
the series. That's right. There's still more to come!
Thanks again to Julie for coming back to the Casa blog to
celebrate her latest release—we’ll see you again next month! To enter to win one of 2 copies of In Rides Trouble, please tell us in the comments who your
favorite characters on bikes are… maybe it’s über-tough Lisbeth Salander… or hilarious
Pee-Wee Herman!
Be sure to leave an email address so we can reach you if you win! US and Canada
only. Winners will be chosen on Tuesday, September 11.
IN RIDES TROUBLE BY JULIE ANN WALKER – IN STORES SEPTEMBER 2012
Black Knights Inc.—Behind the facade
of their tricked–out motorcycle shop is an elite special ops team assigned the
jobs too hot for anyone else to handle.
Rebel
With A Cause...
Becky "Rebel" Reichert never
actually goes looking for trouble. It just has a tendency to find her. Like the
day Frank Knight showed up at her door, wanting to use her motorcycle shop as a
cover for his elite special ops team. But Becky prides herself on being able to
hang with the big boys - she can weld, drive, and shoot just as well as any of
them.
Man
With A Mission...
Munitions, missiles, and mayhem are
Frank's way of life. The last thing the ex-SEAL wants if for one brash blonde
to come within fifty feet of anything that goes boom. Yet it's just his rotten
luck when she ends up in a hostage situation at sea. Come hell or high water,
he will get her back - whether she says she needs him or not.

And here I thought summer's heat was abating! Congrats on the release and one the series, Julie. I love that you've gone with a hero slightly outside the typical age range, one with the dings and dents to show for his time.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck!
Congrats on the release, Julie! I agree with Grace, there's something about a man with some miles on him:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the release! Your question really made me think. I recall Elliot and ET on a bike...loved that movie. More recently, I have heard of a film called Premium Rush that has one of my favorite actors, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as an NYC bicycle messenger.
