A Few of My Favorite Things

You may have heard the exciting news already, but if you haven't, I'm happy to be the one to share it with you. Sourcebooks Casablanca has launched a new online reader club called “Discover a New Love”. Many of you have mentioned to me how much you love discovering debut authors. Well, here is the perfect opportunity to discover several new romance authors or to check out award-winning authors you may not have read yet. Be sure to stop by and see what it’s all about.

I love discovering new things. It’s like finding treasure, only I want to share it with everyone. Here are just a few of my most recent (non-book) finds:

Nutella ~ Smooth, chocolatey nirvana! Where have you been all my life??? There aren’t enough words in my vocabulary to adequately explain how incredibly scrumptious this hazelnut spread is. Even if you don’t like hazelnut, you have to try it. I hate hazelnut coffee with a passion, but this is amazing. I love it on crackers, bread, or even on a spoon.

The Walking Dead ~ My husband and son twisted my arm to make me watch this zombie show on AMC. I just finished the first season on Netflix and I’m bummed season two isn’t up yet. It’s not the zombies that do it for me. In fact, the show is pretty gross, but I can deal with icky stuff if the story is good. I’m enjoying the love triangle between the main character, his wife, and his best friend, Shane. It’s a bit complicated and intense. Plus, actor Andrew Lincoln has gorgeous blue eyes and I adore his curls.

Extra Dessert Delights Key Lime Pie Gum ~ Sugar free gum that tastes like dessert? Brilliant! Even Willy Wonka couldn’t pull that one off without casualties. “Violet! You’re turning violet, Violet.”

Imogen Heap ~ She’s a British singer/songwriter with a voice I love. I believe her music is classified as alternative pop. http://www.imogenheap.com/

CollegeHumor ~ These people are hilarious! The Mary Kate Olson spoofs are so funny, and this Batman parody made me laugh so hard, I cried. (I've never kept my dislike of clowns a secret.)

So, tell me. What new discoveries have you made lately? I'd love to know.

  3. When I was in Scotland, I tried eating some of the things I normally wouldn't--like blood pudding. I'm really awful about trying new foods...but for the sake of research, I did it! :)

  4. Cheryl,

It was great meeting you, too. At the top of my list of things to try are your books. After your description and rave reviews from a bookseller at the Sourcebooks party, I can't wait to read them. :)

  5. Misty,

I haven't tried the sherbet yet, but I didn't care for the orange creamcile. (That looks like it's spelled wrong.)

Nutella is ucky??? What?? Okay. I'll have your share. ;D

  6. Terry,

You are brave! The name alone is off putting. So how was blood pudding?

  7. Awful, Samantha! Although I'm sure it's an acquired taste! :) I'm sure if I'd eaten it over the years, I'd love it. :) Or...not. :)

  8. That is awesome that you like to watch The Walking Dead, Samantha. I have to admit that you are the last person I would have thought would like that show. I love it and watch it with my teen boys. It's "our thing." And they love zombie stuff.

New things I would have to say The Walking Dead is one and cooking is the other. I can't cook and now that my oldest is moving out, I've decided to learn to cook lol. He's not too happy about that but hey, you're never too old to try new things. Love this post!

    1. Suzie,

How funny that I would be the last one you would expect to watch zombies. I loved Zombieland & I have a t-shirt that says "Zombies want (brains crossed out) equal rights." LOL

I don't like gore, but I can handle it. What I love are end of the world movies & shows. Anything to do with survival. :)

  9. I keep hearing about Walking Dead. As usual, I'll be the last to watch it (a la Downton Abbey). I have recently discovered Caillou. Baby Galen loves it, so I do too!

    1. Shana,

I'm always behind everyone else too, but it has to be on my time schedule or forget it. I'm not up on the little kid shows anymore, but I know all the shows on Teen Disney. :D

  12. Dunno if I put a post on thy blog before, but deal with it if I have - we croak someday, sometime, somewhere soon, so deal with it. I'm only trying to git you to look up instead of whorizontal --- Nevertheless, because I saw Heaven, Heaven’s a super-sonic, killer-proposal-relationship IF we pass the test of this finite existence, IF we exceed-the-rules and become the Great Beyond: while faith is certainly justified, the reward of faith is to believe what you don’t see beyond the furthest star. We’ll have a tonOfun for the length and breadth of eternity, lovely girly, where we’ll have a cumulative, effusive euphoria; a BIG-ol, kick-ass, rock-solid, party-hardy for many eons celebrating our resurrection, nekk’n and luuuv’n, drink’n and dancing, full-throttle, mind-blowin, bawl-bustin, virtual reality, baby… on earth? whorizontal taxes - the death of U.S. Upstairs, however, we can fly: like a true, major’s child, we were born 2B wild. God bless you. Love you, doll. See ya SOON.
