GUEST LAUNCH PARTY: Believe It or Not by Tawna Fenske + Giveaway!

Please give a warm Casa Welcome to fellow Sourcebooks Casablanca Author Tawna Fenske—who is here to celebrate her latest romantic comedy release!

It’s launch day for Believe it or Not, my sophomore romantic comedy from Sourcebooks. That means it’s time for a launch party, so let’s break out the martinis and summon an army of male strippers.

Don’t worry, I’ve got the strippers covered. They’re part of the package in Believe it or Not. See, Drew owns a bar in Portland, Oregon, and several nights a week, the bar features male entertainers. Drew enjoys his job – the music, the crowds, the fun – though he could do without the kooky woman next door who runs Miss Moonbeam’s psychic studio.

Moonbeam’s daughter, Violet, shares Drew’s aversion to mom’s business, though for different reasons. All she wants is a normal, quiet life as an accountant on the east coast. But when Moonbeam has an accident, Violet agrees to fill in for mom at the psychic studio. It’s a daunting task, since Violet doesn’t believe in psychics – the only thing she has in common with Drew. Or is it?

This book was a kick to write, not just because I got to watch men take their clothes off and call it “research.” The story takes place in Portland, a city as quirky as the characters I created to live there. I’m a third generation Oregonian, so setting a book in my home state and making that setting an integral element of the story was a kick for me.

I also enjoyed playing with the psychic aspect of this story. As a reader, I’m not a huge fan of the paranormal genre, and Believe it or Not definitely wouldn’t be considered paranormal. Still, the psychic thing is there, and readers get to explore and question and wonder right along with Drew and Violet and all the oddball secondary characters who round out this story.

The reviews we’ve seen so far for Believe it or Not have been wonderful, and I’m thrilled to share a few excerpts from some of my favorites:

Praise for Believe it or Not:
“Fenske hits all the right humor notes without teetering into the pit of slapstick in her lighthearted book of strippers, psychics, free spirits and an accountant.” —RT Book Reviews

"Snappy, endearing dialogue and often hilarious situations unite the couple, and Fenske proves to be a romance author worthy of a loyal following." —Booklist starred review

“Fenske’s sophomore effort (after Making Waves) is another riotous trip down funny bone lane, with a detour to slightly askew goings on and a quick u-ey to out-of-this-world romance. Readers will be enchanted by this bewitching fable from a wickedly wise author.” —Library Journal

"Sexually charged dialogue and steamy make-out scenes will keep readers turning the pages.” —Publishers Weekly

I hope you’ll enjoy reading Drew and Violet’s story as much as I enjoyed writing it. Now who’s got the martini shaker? Make mine extra dirty, please.

Thank you for coming by today, Tawna, and congratulations on the release of Believe It or Not! Of course, there is a giveaway—leave Tawna a comment, telling us what kind of martini—or other delicious beverage—you’d bring to her launch party. A copy of Believe It or Not will be given to two lucky commenters (US and Canada only, and be sure to leave an email address so we can reach you)!

Do you believe in...music?
Drew Watson is the jaded owner of the local hot spot next door, and doesn't need a single thing except a good crowd to dance to what he's spinning on Saturday night.

Do you believe in...love?
The only thing Violet and Drew seem to have in common is that neither believes in that psychic hoo—hah. Except Drew seems to play exactly the right song at exactly the right time. And truth be told, it makes Violet's heart dance just a little ...
