from Mia Marlowe...
Welcome to my New Year Blog Bash! Today was supposed to be my launch party for Sins of the Highlander, my first collaborative novel with New York Times Bestseller Connie Mason. I'm thrilled to announce that my Highlander will be available at bookstores tomorrow.
But instead of waffling on about our book here, I thought I'd offer you a chance to click to an excerpt and then I invited some of my Casablanca friends to guest blog for an hour. Each hour a new blogger will offer a fun post and a chance for YOU to win free reads and other goodies. I'll be drawing a new winner each hour who'll receive their choice of one of my eNovellas, A Duke for All Seasons or My Lady Below Stairs. (While we're on the subject of winning, be sure to enter my website contest where the Grand Prize is a new KINDLE!)
My first Blog Bash guest is the lovely and talented Shana Galen!
Shana: Happy 2012! I hope you had a wonderful holiday with friends and family. I spent Christmas with my husband and daughter and our extended families. Baby Galen was the only grandchild around and basked in the attention and loved having all of her favorite people together. I also had a birthday. It seems those keep coming every year!
After Christmas we went to Key West for a week and enjoyed the warm weather, great food, and Baby Galen even got to pet a dolphin. Key West has a rich history of pirates, so of course Bastien Harcourt and my next book The Rogue Pirate’s Bride was never far from my mind. If you didn’t get everything you wanted for Christmas, I’d love to give you an advance copy of The Rogue Pirate’s Bride, which goes on sale February 7. All you have to do is subscribe to my mailing list before January 5. One subscriber will be randomly chosen to win.
Revenge should be sweet, but it may cost him everything… The marquis de Valère escaped certain death in the French Revolution and is now an infamous privateer. Out to avenge the death of his mentor, Bastien discovers himself astonishingly out of his depth when confronted with a beautiful, daring young woman who is out for his blood… Forgiveness is unthinkable, but it may be her only hope… British Admiral’s daughter Raeven Russell believes Bastien responsible for her fiancé’s death. But once the fiery beauty crosses swords with Bastien, she’s not so sure she really wants him to change his wicked ways…
Want to win something now? How about a signed copy of my popular Regency historical Lord and Lady Spy? Just tell me something fun you did over the holidays. Happy New Year!
Mia: Wow, Shana! A chance to win The Rogue Pirate's Bride and Lord & Lady Spy (which I loved, BTW!) What a great way to kick off our blog bash.
Remember, each hour one commenter will also be chosen to receive one of my eNovellas!

We moved into our new home over the holidays.we thought we would be in before Christmas, but had a few delays. Now we are all settled, well at least out stuff is all here. LOL. I bought myself a new iPad and want to catch up on my reading.
ReplyDeleteOh, Shelly B, I should have encouraged you to leave your email address so we can contact you if you win.
ReplyDeleteYay for getting settled into a new home. Great way to start the new year.
Shelley, moving does not sound like fun, but a new iPad is definitely fun. I got one too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for inviting me this morning, Mia. Everyone, please leave your email address, so we can contact you easily if you win.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I got up early!! I'm looking forward to seeing who all stops by!
ReplyDeleteHi Mia and shana happy new year. During the hOliday I went for black day shopping to buy a lot of stuff for my sister that just losing her job. I want to show her my support and give her encouragements that losing one job is not the end of the world. My sister been working for 6 years and got senior position and then her office went bankrupt and she lose her job very suddenly :(. This is one of the saddest moment in my sister's and her colleague Christmas time. I tried to cheer my sister up so we cooked our Christmas meal together and just spending the time more for our sister bonding :).
ReplyDeletehey, girlygirlhoosier52, I'm glad you got up early too!
ReplyDeleteHey Anonymous, I'm so sorry about your sister. It sounds like she's very lucky to have you.
ReplyDeleteHey GirlyHoosier! HOpe you'll drop by every hour. I've got some great authors lined up all with giveaways.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous--I know how your sister feels, bless her heart. In 2003, we had an unemployed Christmas. It was a challenge, but my DH and I decided the one thing we could control was our attitude. We made a point of staying positive and hopeful. Wishing for good things for you and your sister in 2012!
ReplyDeleteHi Mia and Shana, what a great way to begin the new year! And how lucky I am that I took the day off from work, so I can participate!
ReplyDeleteShana, I have subscribed to your newsletter straight away :)
A fun thing, hmm. My boyfriend and I bought his little girl a gorgeous black dress for Christmas, and she is so proud of it, she wanted her picture taken for her Hyves profile immediately. She did not want to leave it with me to handwash, she just wants it hanging in her room to admire. So, that was one great Christmas gift for her ;)

Hi shana I am the anonymous tHat leave message about my sister. Sorry forgot forgot to leave my email aretha_zhen@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteAurian, how cute! It's a lot of fun buying dresses for little girls. Mine has way too many! Glad you have the day off.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the email, Aretha
ReplyDeleteShana, I got what I wanted for Christmas--peace, quiet, chocolate, a completed WIP--and I can recommend "Lord and Lady Spy" heartily. I bought that sucker as soon as it came out!
ReplyDeleteI made Christmas cookies with my 10 year old granddaughter. She was so cute in her Christmas apron. We started baking together after I introduced my granddaughter to "Shoo Fly Pie", an old family favorite (I'm from PA - "Pennsylvania Dutch country"). She and i have done some wonderful bonding in the kitchen and she is becoming quite a good baker!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!

That sounds like a wonderful Christmas, Grace. And thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteBettysunflower, that sounds wonderful! I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to bake with me.
ReplyDeleteHappy things over the holidays... Well... it's seeing how excited my daughter gets when she opens her x'mas presents... :)
ReplyDeleteGood morning Ladies! Hope your new years is starting off on the right path. Thought I would come by while I was awake. Have been sick with cold for 4 days and sleeping more than usual. Everyone have a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter, son and their spouses, dog, cat, and two flying squirrels are staying with me. But the kids all left and I've still got the pets. LOL They're all coming back though in a few dasy so my daughter can have a "fancy" wedding this Saturday! So the festivities continue. Off to work!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Mia, on your new release!
Wonderful idea for a HUGE launch party! Congrat's on your new release! Someone asked me over the holidays why I write books and I answered, "It keeps me out of jail."
ReplyDeleteThis morning I'm glad to be back at my desk with the WIP...my cranky mood when I don't write was sending me toward the lockup!
Something fun I did- unfortunately the kids and I were sick. So the highlight might have been getting a Kindle Fire for Christmas. Just getting my taste buds back from 3 weeks of sickness. Though the phlem is nonstop- anyways. Good morning Mia and Shana. Congrats on your books- looking forward to reading them.

Hi Mia, Shana and all ladies ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year all
Shana, i love reading your Lord and Lady Spy, can't wait to read The Rogue Pirate's Bride, love a chance to win it ;)
Happy New Year to you both and to you Shana, Happy Birthday as well!
ReplyDeleteI see you had a lot of fun, Shana!
Good for you :) I am also excited to read the third instalment of your Son's of Revolution series and will do this week (the first two also, so I could get in the mood for the third) and congrats on the release!
Here's the fun I had. We hung our brand new draperies (our gift to each other) on Christmas day, and when we were done, my DH kept going around saying: "These drapes tie the room together, don't they?" I kept saying yes, they sure do, and after an umpteenth time I finaly got it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezQLP1dj_t8).
On Christmas Eve we were 'hanging out' at Best Buy out of necessety! Our comp crapped out and it was such 'FUN' choosing the new one *snort*! Although, now that I'm using the new one the *CHING-CHING* is not bothering me any more :) A touch screen, camera and wireless stuff was all worth it :)
Mia and Connie, you both ROCK this book! Congrats to you both on your release! I was thrilled to have had a chance at it from NetGalley and my review of it has been up on Romantic Crush Junkies Reviews EZine, a brand spanking new Christine Moorehouse website. I invite everyone to stop by, read it, then DASH out and buy it tomorrow! People, it is a story that will stay with you a long, long time!

Wishing you everything that is bright and happy in the New Year! I'm going to enjoy this Bash of yours because some of my all time fave's are going to be stopping by :)
Thanks for this oportunity to win and chat with them :)

A Place for All Romance and Book Lovers!
Spy stories are so much fun in historical romances. I just read one this weekend. Female spies come across strong and smart which is always a plus. I hope you had a lovely New Year :)

Happy New Year Everyone! Congrats to Mia on her new release tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI was actually sick over part of the holidays but something fun I did manage to do was experimenting with fudge - I've always wanted to make some but never got around to it so this year, I actually got some recipes and kinda went overboard making it. The family loved it.
Sounds like Baby Galen had a blast during the holidays:)
I already have a copy of Lord and Lady Spy so no need to enter me for the book:)

Sounds like you had a great holiday Shana. Mine was just an ordinary gathering of family. Then again, when the family gets together it can sometimes be a little more than ordinary. LOL.
ReplyDeleteNo fun at all during the holidays. It was quiet and sad here, due the recent death of my grandpa
ReplyDeleteIt's been a wonderful holiday with friends and family - tree trimming parties and dinners and even the movies. I have one more get together before the cleanup begins lol. Oh and until now the weather has been warm which is very strange for PA.
ReplyDeleteLove historicals and highlanders too!
catslady5(at)aol.com
I went to the coast to see my Dad.
ReplyDeleteI love your writing, Shana!

May, that was one of the best parts of the holiday for me, too.
ReplyDeleteHey regencygirl01, I hope you're feeling better! Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteWow, terry! A flying squirrel AND an upcoming wedding. You must be busy :-)
ReplyDeleteLove that response, Carolyn! LOL!
ReplyDeleteChristine, so sorry you were sick. I think something was/is definitely going around. Yay for the Kindle Fire!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eli! Welcome :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, Melanie! I love your husband's little joke. It took me a second to get it too :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Na. I love spy stories too!
ReplyDeleteHey Maria, I'm so sorry you were sick. I hope you're feeling better now, and I bet the fudge was excellent!
ReplyDeleteSidney, those are the best holidays. They're much more relaxing than a two-year-old on an airplane
ReplyDeleteOh, Danny, I'm so sorry. The holidays are really tough when you've recently lost someone you love. Hugs.
ReplyDeletecatslady, it sounds like you had a blast. The clean up! I hear you. I don't look forward to that part.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Robin! The coast sounds lovely :-)
ReplyDeleteI went shopping with my best friend during the holidays. We always have a blast.

I love Shana's books and I'm looking forward to reading more. Sins of the Highlanders sounds fantastic too and I can't wait to read it.

We had a crab dinner for New Year's Eve and that meant lingering over the table and chatting.

Hi Shana,
ReplyDeleteOops, a bit late to the party - but as the saying goes "better late than never".
My fun thing at Christmas was being reunited with my darling son, my granddaughter and my daughter-in-law. I hadn't seen them for months as they now live in London. We all had an amazing time, time which flew by way too quickly and, now they're back in London. Now, I have to wait another 6 months to see them. I just thank God for Skype.
I would love to win a copy of "The Rogue Pirates Bride", just looking at the amazing cover makes me swoon.
Happy New Year to everybody.

I spent the holidays with my big, crazy, but fun-loving family:) It's just like being a kid again because my mom cooks all our meals. It's one big slumber party and I look forward to it every year!
ReplyDeleteyadkny@hotmail.com
Crystal GB, it's always fun to shop with someone else. They talk you into buying that one thing you'd never buy on your own.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, Barbara!
ReplyDeleteLil, lingering dinners are the best. I don't get many of those anymore.
ReplyDeleteDiane, that's awesome. I'm glad you got to see them. My sister is in Uganda and we Skype all the time too.
ReplyDeleteyadkny, I hosted Christmas this year and I missed having my mom cook everything and be the hostess. She'll do it next year, and I'm looking forward to that.
