RELEASE PARTY ~~ Demons Prefer Blondes

OMG!

Those three letters pretty much say it all. Well, almost. Let's just say when June 1st rolled around, my heart was beating a mile a minute. My palms were sweaty. I gnawed my teeth. I kept googling my name and book title to see if any reviews had posted.

Is this normal for someone? My family insists I'm obsessed. They don't realize that this is my baby. I'm supposed to be slightly obsessed. Okay, I admit, I am more than slightly obsessed. But hey, it's my first Sourcebooks Casablanca release. I think I'm entitled to be a little obsessed.

Luckily, I was able to put my obsession on hold for the weekend. I made the six hour journey south to Cincinnati to attend Lori Foster's Reader and Author Get Together. This is my first time attending this event and I guarantee it won't be my last. I had a great time. I met tons of awesome readers, authors, agents, editors and bloggers. There were tons of prizes to win, including several Nooks and Kindles.

But the real cool part was that I felt kind of important. I had people looking for ME! Seriously, someone wanted to meet lil' ol' me. I got a gift from a reader with a really sweet and touching letter. The gift was just as sweet. YUM!

And even though I didn't win a Kindle or a Nook, I still feel like I won. I made new friends and got to hangout with tons of awesome people. I couldn't think of any better way to spend a release day weekend.

And sadly, I have no pictures. I'm sort of a cameraphobe. I'm sure there are some pictures floating around the Internet though. Google will be the death of me.

  1. Congrats, Sidney! I'm so glad I caught up with you at Lori Foster's Event. I agree it was an amazing event.

I have a fabulous pic of you and cover model, Billy Freda. I posted it to FB, but think it may have disappeared...FB and twitter defeat me...so you are not alone.

I was just as anxious when my first book with Sourcebooks was released, so don't worry it's perfectly normal.

I'll email the pic to you, I was on the road yesterday and had farther to go, so I was only on FB in the early am.

Great blog!!! Every time I saw you, you were smiling!

  15. Obsession is just fine when you are waiting for a book! I still do it after all these years...and my family still thinks I'm nuts...it's part of the job. I'd say that cover, that blurb and title was well worth the wait!

  16. Sidney, congrats on your debut release. I stopped in at my local Borders this weekend and found it on the center table--only one left! It was the first time I had seen your cover - beautiful!

I went to Lori's Get Together three years and had a fabulous time.

  17. Whew! I finally have time to comment. Lori Foster's event was awesome. If you can't afford the $$$ for RT or another reader geared event, this is the one you all need to go to. I can't wait to do it all again next year.

Yep, I have already had a couple reviews sent to me from Danielle, including the Night Owl top pick I got last week. I am totally floored and completely ecstatic.
