Not Endings but New Beginnings

To me, the end of one thing equals a new beginning for something else. And never has that been truer than this year!

One beginning we're incredibly excited to share is the launch of the new Sourcebooks.com. The new site features special sections for Authors (including guidelines, all our books on writing, tools for agents, and more) Readers (including a great gift guide), and what projects are coming Next, both for Sourcebooks and the world of publishing.

We're especially thrilled to introduce our Books Change Lives initiative, a project in conjunction with Publishers Weekly, Shelf Unbound and Friday Reads. We hope you'll stop by and share with us what book(s) made a profound difference in your life.

And what could be more never-ending than a love for Jane Austen? To celebrate her birthday today, we're offering a number of our Austen-related ebooks for free! Normally, most of these titles are $9.99, so snag them while you can. The deal is good today only! To see the full selection of books available, click here. Or Barbara Vey at PW's Beyond Her Book blog also has a listing here--with book-ish Christmas ideas. (Please note that as of this writing--10:30 EST--the prices have been updated in the Google eBookstore and Apple's iBooks. Amazon, B&N, and Sony will follow shortly due to time zone differences.)

Edited to add: Because of the slow pricing update and our commitment to readers to provide as many options as we can, we're extending the free book offer through tomorrow, 12/18.

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a 2011 full of great beginnings!

  3. Thanks for filling us in on the latest from Sourcebooks, Leah. I'm probably the only author who doesn't have an e-reader so I can't take advantage of the free Austen book. But I hope everyone else does.

  5. New site is great! Great job!
I'm with Amelia ... don't have an e-reader. Guess I'm an old dinosaur who still likes to see words on paper and likes the smell of a new book!

  6. The new site is awesome! And I don't have an e-reader either, but you can download Kindle for the PC for free. I prefer a physical book, but some books are only available in ebook-versions and I wouldn't want to miss some of them.

And of course, I've got to get the Austen books now. Later!

  7. As Olivia mentioned, all of these books can also be read onscreen on any computer with the desktop version of Kindle or B&N's Reader or Google eBooks. I know it may not be the most convenient--but then again, they are free. ;-)
