My holiday idol is....drum roll..........my dentist

Yes, dentist. I have to apologize for being so absent the past two weeks. What started as a dull ache in my tooth turned into a horrible tooth ache that spread to my bone and cheek. It was painful and my aunt who was visiting insisted on taking all kinds of pictures to document just how bad I felt and LOOKED. Gotta LOVE family. Here is the closest thing to one of those shots I ever want to go public.

If nothing else, it did prevent my holiday indulging. Finally, now though, I am human again, and just in time to ring in the New Year. And how am I going to ring in the New Year? At Home. We have snow and -10 degree temps right now. Home might sound boring, but I LOVE the fireplace and snuggling up with a blanket. Besides, Rick Springfield is performing in Time Square so I have to be glued to the television to watch that. I saw him him in Vegas years ago and loved him just as much as I did at 16. Yes. Now you know my holiday idol AND my teen idol.

Despite my tame New Years Eve I am very excited about 2011. I have a busy release year.

January -- Jump Start Blaze
March-High Octane Blaze
May - Breathless Descent Blaze
MAY- THE LEGEND OF MICHAEL SOURCEBOOKS YAY! My first in the Zodius series!
June-Enemy Submission Spice Brief
July -Sweet Submission Spice Brief
August - Daring Submission spice Brief
NOVEMBER - RENEGADE CONQUEST - 2nd in the Zodius series!

So, needless to say, 2011 is all about promotion. I am planning to attend quite a few conventions this year and hope to meet many of the Sourcebooks authors and staff, and the readers! So far I'm planning to go to RomCon, RT, RWA, Lori Foster's convention, and I'm contemplating the Author's After Dark convention. I've also considered Heather Graham's New Orlean's convention. I'd love to hear what conventions everyone is going to and which ones they like the most, and why. Any suggestions for great conventions would be wonderful.

Happy New Years everyone!
And don't forget those New Years Resolutions!

  2. Holy Ned, girl, keep us posted regarding how you manage such an ambitious schedule. I want to grow up to be just like you. Congratulations on all those releases.

  3. The dentist can a popular fella/lady. Glad you're feeling better and enjoy Rick's performance tonight. He's still yummy after all these years.

  4. Looks like you have a great 2011 line-up! Congrats and I'm glad your tooth is feeling better.

  5. Ouch on the tooth! Congrats on all the releases. How exciting! I plan to lose weight and am resisting buying a new basket. As for conferences, I just started going to them this year, so I don't know which ones are best or if I'll manage to go to any of them in 2011. Wish I had more time and money, but I believe this year will be even tougher in both those arenas than last. I want a full report though!

    Happy New Year, Lisa!

  6. With that much writing, you don't have time to eat, lady, so you don't have to worry about your basket getting too small!
Congrat's on all the releases ... hope to see you in NYC this summer!

  7. Congrats on all the releases, Tracey, and I don't even want to think of the dental problems I've had. I tell my coworkers my dentist says I'll be back at work after my appointment and 3 days later, I'm finally over the pain enough that I can go into work. After the 2nd time of that, when I went in on Tuesday for a follow up, my coworkers said, "Yeah, right, she'll be in. Right." I was! He scheduled more cutting for March. argh. :)

    Have fun with your promotions!

  8. Congrats on a stellar release year - and so happy you're feeling better! Kudos to your dentist!

  9. Oh my, you're a busy lady. Congrats on the tooth feeling better and on all the releases. I'm with Grace, I want to grow up to be just like you too.

  10. Lisa, you poor thing! I've had my share of dental and jaw issues, and having a dentist you trust really is a big deal.
Like everyone else, I'm impressed with your output! Hopefully you'll tell me all your productivity secrets at RomCon and RWA. Feel better and just buy a bigger basket. That cat's not fat, it's FLUFFY.

  11. Amanda -- a virtual toast to NO QUALITY time at the dentist in 2011 for both of us:)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Grace -- Thanks so much on the releases. It's a busy schedule but thankfully the writing is behind me. Last year was crazy though moving from NY to CO and writing like a mad women. Happy New Year to you!

  13. Grace-- it just all sort of happened. My Spice Briefs were suppose to be 2012 and they decided to move them up. But hopefully all those releases means exposure. That is is people like them. Always the paranoid author, its easy to fret over that -- as all of us know I am sure:)

  14. Sara--

It is SO hard to believe Rick is 60 plus. Yowza he still looks good! I loved seeing him in person. I was so close I could touch him.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thank you Tracey and Olivia -- I just heard the airlines are about to hike prices and gas may go to $5 SO....that could impact my plans. I am going to try and snag my tickets in January for that reason if at all possible.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Carolyn -- I can always find time to eat! I have a love affair with chocolate and pasta. DH has a sweet tooth that doesn't help me.

And Terry -- so sorry you are dealing with that. After my experience I sure learned just how bad dental can be. I can only compare the pain I felt to labor.

  17. Catherine and Robyn-- thanks on the releases. Happy New Year!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Joanne-- LOL on the Fluffy cat. For some reason in made me think of my big 80's hair that went with my big 80's butt and I am so glad both are gone. Well-- the butt is still big but not like in the 80's!

As for the writing -- I write full time so that helps though it sure can make you loose your people skills. The closest I get to other humans besides DH many days is at the gym, when I show them my card!

  19. Not a writer, so I haven't attended
    any author conventions. Even the
one in Houston back in 07 or 08.
Being a newbie to this world at the
    time, I didn't know I could have
    gone to the mega-author signing
session! I know better now, but
still haven't been able to go to
    one as yet.

  20. Pat-- RomCon and RT are really fun for readers and I hear Lori's is really fun for readers too. I think the events that focus on readers are really enjoyable. RWA is more the business side of writing, but the others are just loads of fun.

  21. Happy New Year. I'm working on the resolutions, and trying not to think about dentists.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Um, wow! That's an amazing release schedule!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yay, my internet's back up so I can comment! I'm a Blaze subscriber, and have already read Lisa's JUMP START. Great kick-off to a fun series, and Bobby is really hot stuff.

I've had the great good fortune to meet - okay, to TOUCH! - Rick Springfield (and his dog). I attended his Vegas show with a friend who knew one of the show's dancers, and we went backstage after the show and met him. Yowza. Spectacular-looking, very nice, and generous enough to do a meet-and greet after a demanding performance. He wore these rimless glasses that were so, so hot.

I'm going to RT and RWA National this year, and would love to meet you, and other Sourcebooks writers, in person! Perhaps some wine?

  24. You would say dentist. I need to visit for some of the same reasons you mentioned. We've been battling this for some time. Bleck.

    Glad you're feeling better.

Happy New Year Casa authors! Looking forward to reading your latest flights of fancy. :-)

  25. Been there, done that, with the tooth, Lisa. :} I am in awe of your productivity. Sounds like you're going to have a fabulous year!

I love my dentist. He's a really nice guy which is fortunate since I seem to have spent whole lifetimes in his chair, much of it talking books.

I don't know what I'll do when he retires, as he's bound to someday since he's older than me.

  27. I saw Rick at BEA last year. Let's just say, I'm keeping my 16-year-old-self's image of Rick in my head b/c the guy I saw at BEA? Not it. ;)

  28. Oh my, having a sore tooth is not a fun way to spend the holiday season. Glad to hear that you are feeling better now. I hope you had an enjoyable Christmas break given the circumstances. Keep smiling!

  29. It is a good thing that the toothaches were gone because it would be a lot troublesome if you left it unattended. Worst thing about it is that you can get severe headaches too, which can be annoying to your day-to-day activities. Anyway, did the dentist say what caused your toothache?
