For more than a year we have been waiting for this day, for the release date of A Certain Wolfish Charm. Our Lydia Dare debut was supposed to hit shelves tomorrow - Tuesday April 6th. So imagine our surprise to find it actually gracing the “New Release” space in all of our local book stores last Friday night after work.
How do we know it was in all of the stores, you ask? Well, because after the first sighting, we went on an Easter egg hunt of sorts, or an A Certain Wolfish Charm hunt if you’d rather be more accurate. Between the two of us, who don’t live close to each other, we were able to cover quite a bit of ground in the Raleigh, North Carolina area.
To say we were elated would be an understatement. Getting your author copies of the book is satisfying. Signing early release copies friends have pre-ordered from Amazon is exciting. But seeing your book on the shelf in an actual store is nothing short of exhilarating.
Within no time, we’d contacted everyone we’ve ever known. Well, that might be an overstatement, but not by much. Family members both in state and out had been notified. Pictures of the book on the shelf were captured on iphones and posted for the world to see on Facebook. Emails and texts went out to our local chapter mates, co-workers, friends, former clients, and our online historical romance critique group – the members of which were just as excited as we were. After all, they’d been with us since the beginning of this unlikely partnership. They’d read early versions of each book, gave us their opinions, and cheered us on when we got “The Call”.
From states in the Midwest, South, West, North, and Pacific Northwest – our friends went on the A Certain Wolfish Charm hunt right along with us. (One person in Australia was bummed because she couldn’t participate in the fun.) Since Friday night, we’ve gotten photos of our books lining the shelves in stores from New York to Idaho and various places in between.
The last few days have been a blast. And it’s been so fun looking at the assorted photos which have trickled into our inboxes since that first sighting. We’ve added bookmarks to the copies on the shelves and talked to book-sellers about signings. We even signed a few books there in the stores we visited. And we’re gearing up to do it all over again a month from now when Tall, Dark, and Wolfish is released. Perhaps by then, this will all seem like old hat to us. Been there. Done That. But we doubt it.
Undoubtedly, we’ll be this excited about each subsequent release and we’ll probably find even more ways to enjoy the experience.
In case you haven’t heard of A Certain Wolfish Charm, here’s a sneak peek at the back of the book.
He gets crankier and crankier as the moon gets full…
The rules of Society can be beastly—especially when
you’re a werewolf and it’s that irritating time of the
month. Simon Westfield, the Duke of Blackmoor, is
rich, powerful, and sinfully handsome, and has spent
his entire life creating scandal and mayhem. It doesn’t
help his wolfish temper at all that Miss Lily Rutledge
seems not the least bit afraid of him, and in fact, may be
as untamable as he is…
A woman whose charm is stronger than the moon…
When Lily Rutledge’s beloved nephew’s behavior
becomes inexplicably wild, she turns to Simon, the
boy’s cousin and guardian, for help. But Simon’s
idea of assistance is far different than hers, and Lily
finds herself ensconced in his house and engaged to
the rogue.
They both may have bitten off more than they can chew
when each begins to discover the other’s darkest secrets…
