HIGHLANDER’S SWORD LAUNCH PARTY!!

By Amanda Forester

THE HIGHLANDER’S SWORD is officially released today!!! It’s my first book and I’m so excited! This is one of those BIG days in life. One of those days when everything changes. One of those moments in your life that you will forever think of your history as being either before or after it.

It brings to mind many other big events in my life and I wonder how it compares. Publishing is like getting married, except you don’t have to pay for a big wedding and nobody gives you cake. Publishing is sort of like giving birth to your first child, except in my case without the emergency c-section. For me, publishing my first book is most like successfully defending my dissertation, except THE HIGHLANDER’S SWORD has much better cover art than my dissertation (which had none – how dull!), and while I hope others will enjoy my novel, only my sainted mother was willing to read my dissertation.

The best thing about publishing, at least for me, is to see all that hard work come together into a nice package that I can share with the world. I hope you will enjoy it!

In my last blog I shared that I was holding a contest to see which video trailer for THE HIGHLANDER’S SWORD you liked best. Well, the votes are in and it was a VERY close race. Here is the winner with 53.2% of the vote.

THE HIGHLANDER'S SWORD

Swept up in the turmoil of 14th century Scotland, Lady Aila Graham is destined for the convent until her brother’s death leaves her an heiress. Soon she is caught in the conflict between the hastily arranged marriage with a Highland warrior, the Abbot’s insistence that she take her vows, the Scottish Laird who kidnaps her, and the traitor from within who betrays them all. Her new husband, Padyn MacLaren, is a battle-hardened knight, scarred by betrayal, who seeks Aila’s fortune to save his clan. Yet the outwardly shy Aila is nothing he expected… and everything he needs.

“The talented Forester has constructed a highly entertaining debut.”
~Publishers Weekly

“Will keep you on the edge of your seat and unable to stop turning the page until the very end.” ~Romance Junkies

And since it was such a close race, here is the “loser” video with 47.7% of the vote. I think the first one shows the storyline better, but this one shows some of the humor in the book through the eyes of my favorite wise-cracking secondary character, Chaumont. Thank you all for voting and giving me some feedback. This whole video thing is completely new to me!

Thanks for stopping by and celebrating with me! What are the Big Events that have shaped your life?

  1. Hmm, I love kidnap stories, and Highland hunks. *sigh* Can't wait to get my hands on him, er, your book! :) Congratulations, Amanda, and looking forward to reading your debut Highland tale!!!

What changed my life? Finding a home with Sourcebooks. I was showing my co-workers all the titles I have up at Amazon on the author's page, and the ladies were all grinning at the sexy hunks and beautiful wolves and comparing the covers. We looked up a color wheel on wikipedia and determined Seduced by the Wolf has a gorgeous orchid-colored background that is riveting. But they also loved the golden tones of Wolf Fever and thought it really stood out also. The young guy we have working there was making faces. LOL But I keep telling him if he worked on his abs, he might be able to make a cover. :) So for me, finding a wolves' den for my stories has enriched my life immeasurably. :)

  2. Happy Book Birthday Amanda! Yes, it's a thrill...enjoy it to the max. And it does change one's life. Some of the subtle changes, in my experience, turn out to be the most pervasive.

Deciding to use a SEAL for the hero of my first book was a huge turning point. It would change my life, although I had no inkling it at the time.

    Congrats on the great reviews.

  6. Congratulations, Amanda! The book and the Trailers look lovely! I wish you much success.

The day I walked in to see my then boyfriend holding up a couch to vacuum under it changed my life. It was the day my mother told me to marry him (which I did) and the day I discovered my first Domestic God...the rest is history.

I'd have to say that holding that first book in your hands ranks pretty high on the Cool Beans scale. Of course, reaching that million copies mark would be even better. Here's hoping you (and all the rest of us at SB Casablanca) get there soon!
