New Release: Kari Lynn Dell's Reckless in Texas

Dear Reader, There’s something about a rodeo. The scent of early morning dew and the quiet crunch of gravel under metal shoes. The first drowsy simmer of excitement wakened by the dull thud of hooves on rubber as horses hop into the trailer. One last check to be sure all the rope bags and bridles and the one certain saddle blanket are packed into the tack compartment. The life-giving aroma of coffee in travel mugs, and a half-hearted debate about whose turn it is to climb behind the wheel, and who drove last time, and yeah, honey, I know you hate those idiot Portland drivers. I’ve got that shift. There’s something about a rodeo that takes you to places you would otherwise never venture. Tiny towns on dead end highways, with names like Weippe and Rosebud. Into the chaos of city traffic in Minneapolis and Seattle. Through endless miles of high desert to Winnemucca, and crawling up the side of Hell’s Canyon to Asotin. There’s something about a rodeo. Bucking bulls and horses drowsing in t...

All of My Heroes Are Cowboys by Linda Broday

I've always loved Willie Nelson's song, "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys." The lyrics really speak to me and I think it captures the essence of the men who ride for the brand. My heroes have always been cowboys. And they still are, it seems. Sadly, in search of, but one step in back of, Themselves and their slow-movin' dreams . It's a hard life. They work from sunup to sundown seven days a week in rain and snow and on days so hot it's difficult to breathe. They get no holiday time off. But ask them and they'll tell you they want no other job. They love it. I grew up in the best time when TV westerns and movies were everywhere. My parents were very poor so we didn’t own a TV, but every Saturday we’d go over to my aunt and uncle’s house and the magic would begin. Though I couldn’t have been more than ten or eleven years old, I fell in love with Robert Fuller who played Jess Harper on Laramie. He was the handsomest man I had...

New Release: Slow Hand by Victoria Vane

It seems I’ve surprised a lot of readers in making a switch from 18 th century rakes to 21 st century cowboys. To be honest, I’ve surprised myself, as it was never anything I planned or even desired to do, but SLOW HAND marks the start of a whole new writing journey for me.  The story behind the story is that my good friend and beta reader nagged me for almost two years to write a contemporary story but I felt no deep driving interest in it. The biggest reason I balked was my addiction to research. I love history. I read history for fun and I am a compulsive researcher.  This is also where I get my story ideas from. Trivial tidbits discovered by chance always seem to ignite my creative brain.  Until about eighteen months ago, I was writing under the false assumption that I live in the contemporary world, ergo I don’t need to research it. I can’t believe how wrong I was! Once I decided to write a contemporary Western series, I realized how little I actually ...

New Release: Desperate Hearts by Rosanne Bittner

Greetings everyone! It's release week for my latest title, Desperate Hearts , and I’m here to celebrate with all of you.      Desperate Hearts is the story of a young woman from New York City who flees to the little gold town of Alder, Montana in an attempt to hide from someone wealthy and powerful whom she desperately fears and who could accuse her of murder.   Danger in the little gold town is everywhere, and lawman/vigilante Mitch Brady takes it upon himself to watch out for the beautiful new stranger.   Little does he know she's running from the law, and in return, our heroine has trouble trusting Mitch because he IS the law!   It's a fun, "wild west" story with a great hero. Wound into it all is a beautiful love story.      A little about me, I have been writing since 1979 and sold my first book in 1982. That was the first book of my 7-book Savage Destiny series - and to date that first...
