Please give a warm welcome to debut author
Elizabeth Michels! Her regency romance novel, MUST LOVE DUKES, hits stores this
month and she’s here to celebrate!
I’m so happy
to be here today to celebrate the release of my very first book, Must Love
Dukes! And what a fabulous place to get together, here with such amazing
authors!
*pops the
cork on the champagne* Who wants a mimosa?
Let’s get this party started!
I like any occasion where the party lasts a month. I celebrate my birthday the entire month of September after all. So, the release of my debut novel should get no less than that. Hang on, let me set off this confetti cannon.
That’s
better. Now, where was I? Oh, right…my book. Here are a few fun facts about Must Love
Dukes. But first, let’s put on our party
hats!
*adjusts hat
and refills mimosas*
Must Love
Dukes begins with a chase, a few too many drinks, a wild night and a
theft. Although, I’d like to pretend
this was inspired by real life, the only thing I’ve ever stolen is a traffic
cone. Come to think of it, that did
happen after a few too many drinks and it was a wild night with friends, but
not the sort of wild night that happened between Devon and Lily. *grins*
At one point
in the story there is an extended conversation about cucumber sandwiches. When I was 12, my mom hosted a bridal tea for
my cousin and she created her own recipe for cucumber sandwiches. Everyone complimented her on the
sandwiches…nothing could sound more disgusting to me. Seriously.
How do people eat such things? I
never tried the cucumber sandwiches that day and neither do any of the
characters of Must Love Dukes.
When I
started writing Must Love Dukes, it was supposed to be a stand-alone book. But people kept walking into scenes and
taking over my simple little plot. Now,
it’s the first of a potentially long series called Tricks of the Ton.
The
character of Holden Ellis, Lord Steelings is the result of a dare on the part
of my husband. He dared me to name a
character “Holden Steel.” I rolled my
eyes then compromised a bit, but I still claim that I took that dare.
Devon aka The
Mad Duke of Thornwood is from the North Yorkshire Moors because it’s a wild
terrain often covered with fog which gives it a mysterious appeal. But, I also chose this location for his
ancestral home because it’s where I spent my summers when I was in college and
I love everything about that area.
Lily is a
straight-laced, prim miss who straightens up her victim’s home on her way out
the door after stealing from him. She
would find all this confetti appalling.
I hope someone around here has a broom.
Thank you
for celebrating the release of Must Love Dukes with me! *twirls with
happiness* I hope we can party together
again soon!
A BIG Congrats to Elizabeth on her debut
novel’s release! To enter to win 1 of 2 copies of Must Love Dukes, leave a message in the comment about what you’d

MUST LOVE DUKES BY ELIZABETH MICHELS – IN STORES FEBRUARY 2014
The Mad Duke leaned in closer, his lips gently brushing her ear,
and whispered, "I dare you."
She
Can't Resist the Dare…
Lillian
Phillips could not imagine how her quiet, simple life had come to this.
Blackmailed by the Mad Duke of Thornwood into accepting one wild dare after
another...all because of a pocket watch. Desperate to recover her beloved
father's pawned timepiece, Lily did something reckless and dangerous and
delicious—something that led to a night she'd never forget.
He
has a Reputation for Scandal…
When Devon Grey, Duke of
Thornwood, runs into a mesmerizing, intoxicating, thieving woman who literally
stole from his bedchamber—with his new pocket watch—Devon plots his revenge. If
the daring wench likes to play games, he's happy to oblige. After all, what's
the ruse of being the Mad Duke if you can't have some fun? But the last laugh
might just be on him...

As a (currently snowed in) Southerner, I appreciate this, Chelsea! And I looooooove pecan pie! Yuuuum!

I'm so glad you remembered a camera! *selfies with Anita* Thanks for the congrats and welcome to the party!
DeleteCongrats on the release! It looks like there is a good selection of dessert, appetizers, nibbles, and tipples. So I'd bring my version of a Coulibiac - salmon, spinach, sliced hard boiled eggs, fried mushrooms, drizzled over with cream, and enclosed in a flaky puff pastry.
ReplyDeletelittle lamb lst at yahoo dot com
Ooohhh...almost forgot the rice layer underneath the fish.*gets a fresh piece of puff pastry and repeats recipe with the addition*
ReplyDeleteLil, anything involving puff pastry and drizzled with cream is good in my book! Welcome to the party and thanks for the congrats!
DeleteOh my goodness this sounds like a smashing good book! On my must have list. :) I thought these bakery delights and treats would help add to the festivities. Eat up!
