Launch Party: The Highland Bride's Choice

by Amanda Forester

I am excited to announce the release of my very first e-book novella:  The Highland Bride's Choice!  I have returned to the Scottish Highlands to check in on a few of the Campbell sisters (there are a lot of them).  This book is the first in a Highland Trilogy that follows the Campbell clan's adventures during a May Day clan gathering that gets crashed by some pesky English troops.

Practical Elyne Campbell is pleased to marry whomever her brother has chosen for her. Unfortunately, she is more attracted to Tavish Grant, the cousin of her intended than the prospective groom himself. When she is caught outside the castle gates during a siege and is forced to spend time hiding with Tavish, the attraction grows beyond all hope of practicality.

Each book in the my Highland novella trilogy is actually a medieval prequel to my Marriage Mart trilogy set in the Regency time frame.  In The Highland Bride's Choice, Tavish Grant is the great, great, great, great, etc. grandfather of William Grant the hero of A Wedding in Springtime.  I even have a little crossover between the books - a certain item makes an appearance in both books.  This was fun to write!

I just couldn't help myself, I had to tie the books together.  I enjoy writing both Scottish medieval and English Regencies so writing a crossover novella was a lot of fun.  I also enjoyed writing a story that was slightly shorter, though I realized I needed to move things along and get to the romance quick!

And speaking of A Wedding in Springtime, this is a great time to pick up a digital copy because it's on SALE!  Yes, for a limited time it is only $1.99 on Amazon!!  What are you waiting for?  Download both books and enjoy a little Grant family romantic fun!

With so many options for your reading enjoyment, what length of book do you most prefer?

  1. I kind of like novellas now because my reading time is so limited. I'm always reading full-length novels, but a novella is fun because I can finish it in a day or so.

  2. To be honest I do like longer books. My problem is that if I'm really enjoying the book, a novella is over just too soon!

  3. Sounds like a fun way to bridge your series, Amanda!

I do read novellas but not as often as I read full length.

    Congratulations!

  4. Shana - I enjoy novellas for the same reason. I don't get as much time to read as I would like, so novellas are a good middle ground.

catslady - very true! The books I love the most are the ones I never want to end!

  8. I like any length of book, but prefer right around the 300 page range. It is long enough to tell a good story, but not too long that you are just waiting for it to end. Don't want to overdue it.
    Congrats on your novella release.

  10. I tend to like novels but admit that I am sometimes daunted by the ones that are 600+ pages...it's not that I don't enjoy them, it's that my wrists get tired of holding such a massive tome that long, lol. Novellas just seem to whet my appetite but I do enjoy them if they are complete enough.
