I'm so excited to be here with my Casa friends today!
Today is Release Day for Laird Alexander MacDonell of Glengarry and Lady Sybella MacKenzie of Kintail. Yep, this latest Bad Boy hits the shelves today. Isn't Alex pretty? *dreamy sigh* One would think having the third release under my belt that I'd be a pro by now. Nope, I find my palms still sweat every freaking time and I'm giddy with excitement just like a kid on Christmas morning.
In my experience, writing a novel takes so much time and energy. Typing "The End" is actually only the beginning. Oh, don't get me wrong. It's a glorious thing to "finish" the story. But between writing the dreaded synopsis (a chore I loathe,) editing, copy/edits and galleys, I only breathe a sigh of relief when all that hard work is wrapped up in a verra nice package. And I think ye'll agree with me that Alex is verra nicely packaged. ;-)
Without further ado, here's a fun excerpt from To Wed a Wicked Highlander:
Alex didn’t try to speak with Sybella until he was sure he was clear of Aunt Iseabail’s ire.
“Ye said ye like to hunt.”
She nodded and swallowed what was left of her oatmeal. “Aye, verra much. If ye havenae figured it out yet, my laird, I love to be out in the fresh air.”
“’Tisnae that difficult to discern. After the meal we will test your skill with a bow.”
She lifted her brow and gave him a mischievous grin. “Why, Alexander? Ye donna trust me to hunt beside ye?”
“Before I give ye a bow and a verra sharp arrow, I want to be sure ye know how to use them. I am nae willing to take a chance alone with ye in the woods lest ye hit something of most importance.” He glanced down at his manhood and then gave her a wry grin. For some reason, he enjoyed jesting with her.
Sybella paused, clearly weighing her response. “Donna worry, my laird. ’Tisnae that big of a target.”
She always wanted to be one of the boys...
Sybella would do
anything to prove she's just as valuable to the MacKenzie clan as her brother
is. She'd go on any hunt, take any dare. But her father has a different sort of
mission in mind: marriage. It's simple, he explains. All she has to do is marry
Alexander MacDonell and report back on his family's secrets. It will be easy,
he says, as long as she doesn't do anything foolish...like fall in love.
Until she got a man
As laird of the
MacDonells, Alex has a duty to produce an heir. It's a duty he won't mind with
the lovely Ella as his wife―even if she is one of the dreaded MacKenzies. He's
wooed and won many ladies, but Ella is a challenge like no other. He can tell
she's holding something back. But not for long. Because inch by inch, he plans
to expose everything she's been hiding and claim the ultimate prize: her heart.
Praise for To Wed a Wicked

“Victoria Roberts knocked it outta the ballpark with this one!!! It is
Highland romance at its best, loaded with likable characters, and an engaging
plot with lots of angst and heartache that put a few tears in this reader’s
eye. It was so good that I couldn’t put it down.”

her series. This action-packed romance has everything Roberts’ fans adore: a
strong heroine who meets her match in a to-die-for hero, deception, betrayal,
love and redemption. To Wed a Wicked
Highlander has all the elements that make readers sigh with pleasure.”

I don't like sports! My husband likes them enough for both of us. :-) But I have no problem reading about them, just don't want to watch them.
ReplyDeleteHappy pub day :-). My favorite sport is volleyball.
ReplyDeleteFunmail07 at gmail dot com
Hi Ada. Would you believe I've only watched hockey once? Football is my game.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
Hi Shana. I hear you. My husband only watches Steelers' football, BUT...I am subjected to Duck Dynasty, Man vs. Wild, Ice Road Truckers, Swamp People...The list goes on and on. I don't know which is worse. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGina, I totally forgot about volleyball. I used to play a lot, recreationally of course.
ReplyDeleteHappy release day. I do not play sports but I do enjoy watching NASCAR.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the interview and giveaway

Congratulations on letting the bad boy out into the world, Victoria! I'm not a sports watcher but I did watch hours and hours of bronc riding for research. I've never been a sports participant...sweat is involved and I don't do sweat. But like Shana, I don't have a problem reading about it at all, with a glass of sweet tea and air conditioning...oh, I think I just found my ultimate sport...READING! I'm off to call the Olympic folks! I bet I could bring home the gold.
ReplyDeleteSin, thanks so much for stopping by. I've only watched NASCAR once. I had to give up after ten minutes.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, I think you ladies have the right idea. I don't mind reading about sports at all. ;-)
Congrats on the new release! I am so glad I discovered your books earlier this year when I was looking for a book that started with the letter X for a book challenge. I absolutely love your Scottish bad boys.
ReplyDeleteI love watching football.
oeamis(at)gmail(dot)com
Aww...Thanks, Ora. I'm glad you chose X MARKS THE SCOT for the "X." ;-)
ReplyDeleteYUM!!!! I'm not a sports fan...unless it's watching a Scot toss a caber... Hmmm
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm definitely with you on that one, Terry Spear.
ReplyDeletecongrats on the release & reviews :) I do enjoy watching a good football game :)

ReplyDeleteI just finished Temptation in a Kilt last night and just loved it. I didn't want it to end but now I need to catch up on your other books (this was my first). I don't do any sports but I like to watch a lot of them from football to hockey to golf and more!

I'm glad you loved TEMPTATION IN A KILT, Catslady. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series.
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria It's been fun following your career! I love your books and enjoy your posts. Living in the Colorado Rockies, of course, all hunting is in our family and the critters are right in our backyard. All our kids and grandkids play all sports and hunt. Congrats on your Highland series.
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria, it's been fun following your career. Congrats on your Highland series. We love your books. Living in the Colorado Rockies we hunt and the critters live in our back yard most of the time. Our kids and grandkids play all sports and hunt. Never a dull moment around here.
ReplyDeleteHappy release day, Victoria! I can't wait to read your latest Bad Boys novel. I don't play any sports. But I love to watch cycling, figure skating, and football.

Thanks for stopping bn100.
ReplyDeleteHappy Release Day Victoria! I enjoy watching football. Go Gators! I also like to watch my son play T ball especially when he was younger. There's something quit comical about 4 year old boys running around a T ball field. Congrats!!

Congrats on your new release. I know a lot of book worms who love highlander novels, so I'm sure it's going to do well.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much for sports, but would enjoy swimming or archery if I was more athletic ;)
Thanks

Congratulations...So excited for you Victoria...
ReplyDeleteFavorite Sport Hummmm Caber Toss , Kilted Mile, The Stone Put, or 'Clachneart' Are just a few of the Sports I enjoy Watching.
alba47@gmail.com
Have a good one ann/alba
Vikki, I always love watching the kids play.
ReplyDeleteEvanlea, my second Highlander (Declan MacGregor) was an archery man.
Hi Ann. I wonder if we could consider kilt watching to be a sport. Something to ponder.
Congratulations on your release, Victoria! Can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteI see you've only watched hockey once....you don't know what you're missing! :) I enjoy watching all sports (watching, not participating lol) but hockey is my favorite. It's fast, it's rough and it's skill mixed into one.
thebigbluewall77(at)gmail(dot)com
I'm not all that into sports, but if I had to choose one I'd go with archery. I prefer a solitary sport where a person's skill is tested against others, rather than a team sport.
ReplyDeletevictoria -- you can take the girl out of the 'burg, but not the 'burg out of the girl ;) go steelers (and pirates!)
ReplyDelete:)
Gamistress66, you got that right. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnita, I'll have to check it out some more.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I admire anyone's skill with a bow.
ReplyDeleteI don't really participate in many sports, although in High School for gym I really enjoyed the week we played field hockey. As an observer I like watching gymnastics and figure skating. I used to figure skate a little when I was younger as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
