Thrill Ride Launch Party

"Pimping the Ride!"

"Boom goes the dynamite!"  Picture me saying that over and over again while spiking an imaginary football and doing a little victory dance, and you'll have a pretty good idea of how I've been acting the last couple of days - much to my infinitely patient husband's chagrin.  But why am I so excited, and what the heck am I celebrating?  Well, nothing less than the release of Thrill Ride, the fourth book in my bestselling romantic suspense series!  Yep, you heard me right.  It's time to strap on your side arm, shrug into your motorcycle jacket, and slip on your biker boots.  Because the Black Knights are back in action!

And to wet your whistle for Rock and Vanessa's roller-coaster ride to happily-ever-after, I'm sharing with you some of my favorite quotes from the book.  On your mark, get set, ready… go!

"'They say he’s gone rogue.'  Like a bad smell, the sentence seemed to hang in the air."

"The guy was a mystery, wrapped in a riddle, surrounded by beard stubble."

"There it was again… That tingling between his shoulder blades. That tightening of his scalp. Call it instinct or intuition or some sort of gut reaction brought on by a lifetime of looking over his shoulder, but Rock Babineaux knew someone was watching him."

"It was the look of man who didn’t shirk his duty, the look of a man whom the world had tested time and again, the look of a man who’d know exactly how to handle anything that came his way. How to handle a gun, a terrorist, a woman—"

"Because even though she was proving to have giant brass balls hidden beneath that sweet Latina exterior, nobody, not even hardcore operator and world-class comm specialist Vanessa Cordero, wanted to spend the night alone in the middle of the jungle."

"And then it was as if his wish was granted. Because everything came to a stop, the world ceased spinning in its orbit, and she turned to stare up at him, hope and desire and something he dare not name glittering in her dark eyes. “Rock, I…” Her voice trailed away as she took a short, hesitant step in his direction."

"'God, you two have got to quit that.  You're making my boy parts get bigger.'"

"He groaned when she speared her fingers into his hair, opening to him further, moving against him in that fervent way that only made the ache pulse harder for both of them. He was filled with a kaleidoscope of emotions. Elation. Longing…Dread. Because this was going to be over too soon, and then there’d be no more. Nothing more. His past was going to catch up with him or he was going to catch up with his past. Either way, the end result would surely be his death, but in the meantime… Vanessa…"

THRILL RIDE BY JULIE ANN WALKER

He’s Gone Rogue…
Ex-navy SEAL Rock Babineaux is as Cajun as they come—spicy, sexy, and more than a bit wicked. But would he actually betray his country? Even his best friends on the special-ops Black Knights team aren't sure they can trust him. Now the target of a massive manhunt, Rock knows the only way to protect the team—especially his partner, Vanessa—is to run...

She Won’t Back Down…
Rock might think he can outmaneuver them all, but he hasn't counted on how stubborn Vanessa Cordero can be. And she refuses to cut him loose. Sure, her partner has his secrets, but there's no one in the world she'd rather have by her side in a tight spot. Which is good because she and Rock are about to get very tight...

  1. Congratulations on BIG number 4! Is this the last of the series or just a good beginning of a long lasting series? Which branch of the military...anything with a uniform catches my eye! And I do consider a biker jacket a uniform.

  2. Me, again...LOVE, LOVE the quotes!

  3. Ha! Thanks, Carolyn. To answer your questions, the boys have started their own covert government defense firm, so they hail from ALL branches of the military. And I just signed a deal for books 6,7, and 8 in the Black Knights series with Sourcebooks, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there's much more BKI fun in the future!

  7. Thank you, @CrystalGB! And there's just something about a military man, am I right?

  8. Congrats on #4, Julie Ann. My favorite heroes come from the Navy SEALs. They've been my favorites for years, even before I knew folks wrote romance about them. This sounds like my type of romance. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. :)

  9. Congrats on the new release, Julie! I can't wait to pick this one up—the excerpt's really pulled me in.

I would have to agree with the other ladies on this one; I like my Navy SEALs! As hunky as all the other military heroes are, there's just something about Navy men. I also find it kind of hot when there's a hero who's ex-military-turned-police/gov't agent/sniper/etc.

  13. i have to say i love this series and i will be looking forward to reading the ones to follow!

i do love navy seals but then ive always wanted to be a biker girl so im more than happy with your heroes!

  14. Thanks, Karielle! And you hit the nail on the head. I like my military men to be able to operate outside of the military hierarchy. That's why all my guys are EX-whatever-military-branch-their-from. It gives my characters more freedom and me more freedom as a writer!

  15. Hi Laurie! Thanks so much for reading. And since you're waiting on book #3, best of luck to you in the giveaway! ;-D

  16. @babylollie, LOL! I'm not sure exactly what "hummy" means. I'm thinkin' a combo of "hot" and "yummy?" If so, right on, doll!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh, Shana! I sooo heart you, dollface! Spec-ops guys come from all branches. They're the specialized units within the military. For the Navy, it's the SEALs. For the Army, it's the Rangers. Etc. Thanks for all the support on twitter. You're the absolute BEST!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. @Angela Ingham, well I just about ticked all your boxes with the Black Knights, didn't I? ;-) Wait... did that sound dirty??? LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I actually don't have a preference as long as they are smokin hot!

Congrats on the new release. Can't wait to read.

  21. Does undercover agents count? Like undercover military agents. Their status is mysterious and very risky business. Insert an obnoxious heroine and I think we have an amazing story.

  22. Congrats on #4, Julie! Can't wait for more. It's sad to say that I haven't read Thrill Ride yet, but reading your favorite quotes, I can't wait!

I'm with almost everyone, Navy Seals are just so YUMMY!!

  23. Congrats on the new release, Julie. Since the SEALs are so popular, I guess I enjoy Navy heroes more. I would like to see more Air Force heroes.

  25. Thank you, @Kate Mann! And I'm glad the quotes gave you a hankering for THRILL RIDE! I'm not supposed to have favorites, but I will say this book was insanely fun to write. ;-)

  26. Oh, @Jane, if Airforce heroes are your type, you should totally check out Catherine Mann's stuff. Out of this world good!
