Please welcome back fellow Casablanca
author, Karen Kelley! Her second erotic paranormal romance, Where There’s a Will, is in stores this
month.
Thanks
so much to the Casablanca authors for having me back! I love writing for
Sourcebooks and have never met such a fantastic group of people.
A
little about me: I look innocent. No, it’s true. Apparently something strange
happened as I got older because when I was growing up I got blamed for
everything. Even when I told the truth, Mom never believed me. I’m thinking I
didn’t look all that innocent! Go figure.
Now,
after friends buy my books they start giving me strange looks. It’s like they’re
expecting a punk rocker or something instead of me, a frumpy grandmother. I did
actually tell my hairdresser to go wild and put in blond streaks. My hair did
not cooperate and I ended up with lovely golden highlights.
I
really tried to fit the mold of erotic romance author and figured I could pull
it off better if I lost weight. I dropped 100 pounds. Yeah, I can hear you
cheering and saying way to go, Karen! I found where some of it dropped. I asked
my daughter what the roll of fat was around my waist and she said it was a
muffin top. I asked how I could get rid of it and she told me I had to
exercise. I asked her if there was another way. She said no.
I
don’t think I’ll ever fit into a mold, but I’m having great fun doing exactly
what I want to do. I didn’t always do that. I tried to be what everyone wanted
me to be and never believed I would amount to much. My heroine in Where There’s A Will is the same way.
Haley lives her day to day dreary life until she’s stood up by a coworker. That
night she cries herself to sleep and prays for a miracle. The next morning a handsome nephilim (half
angel/half man) rings her doorbell and promises to give her the miracle she’s
been waiting for. Ryder rings more than her doorbell.
If
you’ve ever felt like you were on the outside looking in or someone made you
feel inferior, then you might enjoy Where
There’s A Will. It’s a story about discovery and love and….well, I don’t
want to give it all away. (And it’s not at all innocent!)
Be
yourself, be happy!
Karen

Cute post, Karen. My daughter just became a certified dietician, which means? She can officially tell me what I should and shouldn't be eating. LOL :)
ReplyDeleteLove your cover!
Hi Karen. Your book sounds great. I love the cover. Congratulations on your weight loss. That's an awesome achievement.
ReplyDeleteCrystal816[at]hotmail[dot]com
Hi Karen! Oh, my I can sure relate to your post. Folks expect the author of cowboy romance to look like Dolly Parton or Miranda Lambert!
ReplyDeleteYour cover is hot, hot, hot and they really should package at least one "hot flash prevention" pill on the back of the book.
Congratulations!!!
Anybody whose lost 100 pounds is qualified to write about miracles and wishes coming true. Might have to sleep with this book under my pillow. You say they're called Nephilim?
ReplyDeleteWay to go, losing 100 pounds, that is awesome! Thanks for the chance to win your book, which sounds like a yummy read!!

Good Morning! Thanks so much for the warm welcome!
ReplyDeleteI loved writing this book because so much did hit home. With age comes a little wisdom :) I've been having so much trying new and different things, though. No one should ever limit theirselves. Right now I'm having a blast learning Zumba. I'm terrible about exercising but I love to dance so this is working out great. What have you tried recently or want to try?
First off, congratulations on the weight loss...my hubby has made a lifestyle change and has lost 38 pounds since January...me, well, I'm maintaining the weight gain I acquired within a 3 yr period until I can get my thyroid under control. As for your latest book, I have been waiting for this it seems forever. It would sit very nicely next to my copy of Where There's Smoke! And I can relate to someone who's always felt like an outsider looking in even having grown up with 4 siblings. I was the innocent one that got blamed for misdeeds my other siblings did mostly due to birth order. I was the oldest girl/live-in babysitter! hahaha
ReplyDeleteHi Karen! Can't wait for my copy of your book to arrive so I can dive into another of your wonderful books.
ReplyDeleteI am really enjoying this series!
Huge congrats on the weight loss! That is awesome!
Congrats on the weight loss. I'm trying, but not succeeding so well. (I just like to eat! lol)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win this book! Love the cover!

Congratulations on the book and losing 100 pounds - both hard earned! I love it that you're outside of the box so to speak and dare to do what you want. I've spent way to much of my life trying to please everyone and as they say, you end up pleasing no one, least of all yourself. I have work to do!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for the congrats on the weight loss. I'm trying to maintain this weight but then I'll need to get busy and lose some more. The reasoning behind buying the Zumba CD's LOL.
ReplyDeleteYes, the heroes are Nephilim. They're actually mentioned in the Bible. I just played the what if game :)
I was a people pleaser, just like my heroine. I feel so much more free since I stopped and took on the attitude of "this is who I am, take me or leave me". I didn't think people would like me without the mask. It was amazing when I discovered most people like the real me.
Congratulations on the 100 pound loss! It's so hard the older we get to drop those unwanted pounds! I've loved every book I've read by you, and look forward to this new release.

ReplyDeleteI think I will definitely enjoy reading this story since there are definitely times where I feel like I am on the outside looking in. Can't wait to meet Ryder:)

Great blog, Karen, you had me chuckling asking your daughter if there was another way to lose the muffin top :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the latest release, Karen! Love the cover for this and it looks like it's one hot read! :)

Thanks, y'all! LOL My Texan came out :)
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, Congrats on the new release, I can not wait to read it. I wasn't good at looking innocent growing up either. After I got grown, I guess I started to look a little more innocent, except to those who really know me ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win a copy.

I have frequently felt like I was on the outside looking in but books have always saved me from feeling sorry for myself. Congrats on the weight loss, I chuckled and identified with you and your response to the recommendation for exercise (yes, I can watch exercise shows but have no inclination to join in!). Good luck on the new release, it sounds great!
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone who commented! Our winners are
