by Amanda Forester
I am very excited to share with you all the release of my second Highlander book, THE HIGHLANDER'S HEART. I had a lot of fun writing this story. Lady Isabelle is a determined heroine who often rushes into trouble, upsetting all of Laird Campbell's careful plans to avoid matrimony, and a bloody clan war. Standing on the brink of war, Isabelle may be his only hope to save his clan, and his heart.
Here is what Publisher's Weekly had to say:
Forester follows 2010’s The Highlander’s Sword with another vivid portrait of romance in 14th-century Scotland. Five years after Lady Isabelle Tynsdale leaves her aged husband, she travels to the king’s court seeking to have her marriage dissolved, narrowly avoiding a confrontation with her husband’s soldiers. Isabelle is saved from a band of attackers by Sir David Campbell, a Highlander known as an enemy of the king. Their mutual attraction doesn’t stop David from taking Isabelle prisoner when he learns her identity, as he figures her husband will pay a pretty penny to ransom her back. As Isabelle makes several humorously botched attempts to escape David’s castle, the assertive English lady clashes frequently with the brusque Highlander. Despite the book’s unusual length, the plot never falters, and fans of Highland romance will appreciate Forester’s devotion to historical accuracy and effortless storytelling.

I do enjoy pairing unlikely couples such as Lady Isabelle and Laird Campbell. Would you rather fall in love with someone who is similar to you or different? If you could chose someone who had a character trait that was different from yours, what would it be?

Your question made me laugh. My beloved and I are extremely different and we actually balance each other well. What would I choose as a character trait different from mine? A penchant for tidiness. This is one of my hubby's traits and I have greatly benefitted from it.
ReplyDeleteoops...should have added to the last comment.

Tracey - Thanks - and thanks for the tweet!
ReplyDeleteCheryl - thanks - I hope so!
Shana - I am also quite taken with Scottish Highlander's I must say!
CrystalGB - I do like my cover too! Sourcebooks has given me some great covers I must say!
ReplyDeleteUnder the Covers - thank you! I do hope you will enjoy the book. I was fun to write. Some characters just march right along and take you with them. Isabelle was one like that for me!
ReplyDeleteLil - great one! My husband is also much tidier than me - it's a great quality! I once caught hm taking out the towels I put away in the linen closet and re-folding them the "right" way. Needless to say, he is now in charge of laundry!
ReplyDeleteHi Amanda, congrats on your new release, sound like a fabulous read and I would love to read it. I do love me some highlanders.

This is a lovely day! At least three people have recommended this book to me, all of them readers I trust.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to marry a fellow with traits to complement mine, he'd be a natural at housework, never leave town much, and an exercise freak. I did marry such a fellow, and while he's a very nice man, the marriage was not of long duration.... Opposites might attract, but nobody tells them what to do when that phase is over.
arrghh blogger ate my post.
ReplyDeleteI am one of those readers that loves anything Highlander. I really enjoyed the excerpt and great reviews. My husband and I are total opposites. It doesn't make for an easy marriage but definitely not boring. I love reading about opposites - makes for exciting reading with all that angst and drama and we all know that fantasy in reading can be better than the real thing lol.

Happy release day Amanda! I hope the book hits the lists!
ReplyDeleteI do love Highlanders, and I think you have done something original with it. I am going to enjoy reading it.
Opposites attract are much more fun, then couples who agree on everything. And I think some one outgoing is really good for a shy person, helping to meet new people.

This one sounds like lots of fun. Happy release day! I adore opposites attract stories. My husband likes a lot of outdoor activities which is good because it gives me some time to myself during hunting season.

Virginia - me too! I don't know exactly what it is about a Highlander, or that wonderful Scottish burr, but it does bring a smile to my face!
ReplyDeleteI would rather be with someone different than me. A different character trait, hmmmm.... Probably patiance. Because I, uhh, have none. Cough. ;-)

Grace - I am thrilled someone would recommend my book!
ReplyDeleteI agree that having a husband who was a excercise nut would be a bit exhausting. My husband like to excercise before we got married. Unfortunately I seem to have cured him of the habit!
Catslady - you are so right - tension and drama are great in a novel, but I prefer my homelife to be a little more mellow. Of course I married my oppisite too, and you are right life is never boring!
ReplyDeleteAurian - thanks! Since I'm a bt shy in social situations I think it would be great to have an outgoing husband. I am oppositie from him in many ways, but unfortunately being a bit reserved is one way we are alike!
ReplyDeleteJena - agreed! My husband and i are quite different and at least we never run out of thngs to say!
ReplyDeleteAmelia - thanks! I am thrilled when someone likes my story!
Victoria - thanks! And congrats on your recent sale!! Can't wait to read your take on the Campbells!!
ReplyDeleteNa - me too! I hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteBrooklyn Ann - sounds like you have it all worked out! It's nice to enjoy doing separate things and then have the fun of reuniting!
Chelsea - I've always been afraid to ask for patience, because the lessons that would teach it I fear I would not like!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Amanda ;)
ReplyDeleteI choice a different one, i don't like to have someone with same character with me maybe it's fun to have it but still it's an adventure to have someone different then me =D
eli_y83@yahoo.com
Eli Yanti - I agree - let's hear it for romantic adventure!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the release! Love highlanders <3 thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteAs for your question, I think I would choose someone who is different than me to keep things interesting. A character trait that I would want that's different from me would be being very outgoing because I'm generally a more quiet person.

ReplyDeleteThe two winners of a copy of THE HIGHLANDER'S SWORD are: Winnie and Under the Covers! Congrats to you both - hope you will enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteYeah for you! I'm sure it always feels good to see your book on the shelves.
ReplyDeleteI think this one sounds like fun with the opposite personalities thing going for them and I am intrigued by that piece about all the ways she tries to escape.
I am surrounded by family and friends alike who are different from me. Can it be me, maybe?
Thank you for the giveaway opportunity.
