Launch party for An Earl To Enchant

Good morning beautiful ladies of the Casa Blog! It’s April in London and the Season has just gotten underway. I’m so excited to tell you that in celebration of my latest book An Earl To Enchant, we’ve all been invited to a ball at the Grand Hall in London! There’s even talk that Prinny himself will make an appearance so it will be a true royal affair.
So gentle ladies, let’s get ready to party until the wee hours of morning!
You should start by donning a fine, delicate cotton chemise and then cover it with a lacy, brocaded taffeta gown that fits snugly under the breasts in that divinely inspired Empire style. Slip on a pair of smooth, silk stockings and into a pair of golden satin slippers. Put your hair in a neat chignon at your nape and add an exotic beaded comb from India. Fasten your favorite strand of pearls around your neck and let them nestle in the hollow of your throat. And lastly, add a hint of your favorite perfumed water. Use the scent of rose, lilac, or lavender to that soft spot behind your ears and the pulse points at your wrists.
I’m told we’ll be picked up precisely at nine o’clock in a glossy black barouche pulled by six spirited, white horses. The driver and footman will be dressed in the finest livery made in London with an intricate gold crest on their coats and top hats.
When we arrive at the Hall we’ll find the huge, magnificently carved mahogany doors thrown wide in welcome, but only the elite of the ton—will gain entrance tonight. The ballroom will be opulent with glittering, crystal chandeliers cascading golden candlelight throughout the room. A butler will greet us, take our wraps, and then offer us champagne served in the finest of crystal.
And then we’ll see him…
Ah…the privileged, titled gentleman we’ve been looking for all our lives. He’s tall, broad-shouldered and lean at the hips. He’s the epitome of class, fairness, and sex appeal. He’s absolutely dashing dressed in an expertly tailored cutaway coat with his neckcloth casually, yet perfectly tied. Slim trousers show off his powerful legs, and his Hessian knee boots are polished to a sexy sheen. (We’ll forgive him for wearing boots to a ball because he looks so blasted good in them). We’re not sure which we like best, his sweet smile or wicked grin, but one thing is sure, we have caught his attention and he’s walking straight toward us with a lithe stride that only the commanding hero of our dreams can master.
So what do you say, ladies, are you coming to this party with me?
Thank you, ladies for allowing me to tease your senses about the fabulous Regency. I love the language, the manners, the clothing, well---everything about it. And I’d like to think that you’ll taste a little of all these things in my latest book An Earl To Enchant. It’s the third book in the Rogues’ Dynasty Series. You can find the first chapter on my website at ameliagrey.com. I invite you to stop by and give it a try. A Duke To Die For and A Marquis To Marry are the other two books in the series, but each book stands on its own. All three books are available at your favorite local or online bookstore. Please feel free to e-mail me at ameliagrey@comcast.net.

  6. Fun, fun post, Amelia. I do love a Regency! Wouldn't going to a ball where one might catch a glimpse of a prince (not to mention an enchanting earl) be intriguing?

  8. I am SO there! I think you just described Mr. Darcy and now my heart is all aflutter! Talk about wonderful inspiration for me to write all day! After the party, that is, as I would sooner DIE than miss a chance to meet the Prince!

I shall be wearing a divine gown of blue chenille designed to display as much bosom as possible. I think I will go with my swan feathered bandeau allowing curls to flow over my right shoulder. Lavender water, of course, and a hint of rouge to brighten my cheeks. And naturally comfortable kid leather slippers so I can dance until dawn!

Congratulations on another success, Amelia. Party and enjoy every moment of it. Thanks for a lovely post that perfectly captured the Regency tone and flavor.

    Best of luck!! Sharon

  9. I love historicals, too, Amelia--especially yours! I really enjoyed how you brought a little bit of India into this one, and the mystery with the heroine's father was great. Congrats on a fabulous new release, and I'm excited to see what's next!

  10. Congratulations on your book launch, Amelia. It's so nice to be invited to the ball; there are so many familiar faces here. Hi ladies, air kisses! Loved the 1st two books in the series. Not sure how you'll pry my heart away from Race, but I'm willing to let Lord Morgandale try to charm me. :)
